basically just viewed and responded to a thread that went something like.. "i as a man am like this so all men are like this" found it to be almost latent inverted sexism / misandry.
if a woman posted something like that involeing her casting other women to be homogenous clones of her ie .. " i am a women , i am like this! SO ALL WOMEN MUST BE LIKE THIS!" women would be up in arms!
Why do certain men aspire to present themselves as beacons / homogenous / self appointed ambassadors of their gender?
Every man is an individual.. they share anatomical similarity / physical features.. beyond that tho they're all different not homogenous so curious why some have this ingrained attitude to the contrary! |

I see women doing it sometimes as well, it's not unusual.
Presumably the reason men get away with it more on Fab is that men have such a raw deal here and they feel they can't say anything to risk offending anyone.
As for why people do it, I think it's comforting to think you belong to a group sometimes. |

Social influence causes people to become more like each other, as well as perceive that they're even more the same as others than they really are. Gender (not sex) is an aspect of social influence, where studies show the strong influences that social pressures place on us.
It gives people comfort that they're potentially not isolated as individuals, but the more confident one is about themselves, the easier it is to break away from the norms etc.
