"A summer with some sun
..... and fishing for sticklebacks and tadpoles with a net on a bamboo cane.
Is that what they do in Scotland? Wow!! Must visit there sometime "
Used to spend days trawling the swanny ponds for them.... or sailing boats my dad made for us. |

I would also bring back just how simple and uncomplicated everything was.
Playing outside, hopscotch, skipping, making mud pies, popping tar bubbles. Using your imagination and making up games, pretending to be a princess, ballet dancer, cowboy etc.
Oh and being able to leave your front door open and knowing all your neighbours. |

I was about 10 when cancer cut a swathe through all of the family which we used to spend time with. We largely stopped traveling up to Liverpool (I grew up in Gloucester) and I distinctly remember life changing at that point..... |

I miss a cat called Tammy, I miss putting a baby bonnet on him and pushing him around the garden in a dolls pram, I even miss him getting under the covers and pushing me out of the bed so that he could scrawl across it!
He was lovely |

That still happens here......, my front door is never locked unless I'm in bed (and to be honest, I've forgotten many times and come down in the morning to find it unlocked)....friends and family knock and come in.... although there was the unfortunate incident when my mate came in unexpectedly as I was getting in the bath (top of the stairs, direct line of sight....) she's fine now, but the therapy has been hard work for her........
I'll add Saturday afternoon World of Sport wrestling with my Grandma her and us kids chanting at the telly "Easy, easy, easy......"
Oh and recording the Top 40 onto a cassette on Sunday evenings and trying to not get too much of Tommy Vance or whoever on the voiceover so you could get all the music on..... |

"Manners DO you feel they have disappeared over the years? "
Yes massively , I can't stand it, shop workers that put your change on the counter and don't say thanks .
People in traffic you give way to and don't say thanks
People who ask for things and don't say please .
Even people on here who respond to a message I've sent them with just a "face pic" no can I have a face picture please or thanks , puts me off them straight away.
Maybe I'm just a grumpy old man |

Up4fun, I must be a grumpy old woman then cos I agree and also get very angry at people with no manners. As I child I would give up my seat on a bus automatically to an older person this never happens nowadays.
Surrey, my mum said same and instilled manners in me as I have done with my daughter. And I wouldn't have dared talk back to anyone older either, even if I was being told off!

My children have good manners too as they have been brought up to have them , which as a parent is your duty but many seem to forget what we havent and you wouldnt believe how many arguments and rows a week I get into with people who litter , they just eat something and throw the wrapper or can and them people have the cheek to moan about the rat population growing and there being rats everywhere |

Just that feeling of moving towards the high point in your life, feeling like you've not peaked yet. Physically speaking at least that's gone now and it's all downhill from here. Such is life! |

On a serious note, I'd bring back lucky bags, sticker mosaic, button moon, and being able to play safely outside without parents worrying about their kids getting murdered/assaulted/kidnapped |

Because they don't eat as much bones as they used to, ours still knocks the odd white one out when he's had a big bone |

Whatever happened to the woman from the Shackleton's adverts? I always thought that she never got the recognition that she deserved. Plus they had over a hundred designs to choose from and she never realised how easy they were to get in and out of |

Ooh I remember doing that and finding a stickle back in my hair when I washed it later that day! Think I would vomit if it happened now! |
