we are looking at getting broadband, currently we just use a dongle. We had SKY before and found it slow, heard bad things about Talk Talk...

Can anyone please recommend a provider that has good speed and customer service?

Cheers

Ben

think the speed depends on your area, but if you go to the broadband providers webpage it should give you the option to type in your postcode/phone number and will inform you of speeds.

Sky is the only company that give unlimited downloads.

Virgin is the fastest as its fibre optic.

Pays your money and takes your choice.

Talk Talk is as good as any other that want your business, ok till it goes wrong.

I use Sky and dont get any problems at all.

Have used Talk Talk and that is the old Tiscali - nightmare to say the least.

What you have to remember is that broadband is only as good as the BT phone lines in your area.

So if its an old exchange and poor lines its slow.

Try the following checker (http://www.samknows.com/broadband/broadband_checker)

There are so many factors which will affect a broadband service, such as length of phone line, distance from the exchange, whether its a copper line or fibre optic, etc, etc etc. There are positives and negatives to many of the internet service providers in the UK, some positives they give you unlimited downloads, some deliver or overdeliver on expected speed and then the negatives, lower than quoted speed, peak time speed or download caps. My advise would be to read the small print before agreeing any deal.

I used to be with o2 and always found them great, good speed, price was good with being an o2 customer anyway. and the customer service was brilliant with a free number to call for help.

A change in living circumstance and are now with Sky (was with them a few year ago and didn't like). they're good, unlimited download, decent speed and no problems.

Same as owt else, you get what you pay for. I'm with Zen, although its not cheap it's totally reliable, everything is uk based and they don't traffic shape your speeds in peak times like most of the cheapo ones do

Plusnet is used by a few friends and they love it. I am on talk talk but will be leaving shortly to go to them as the deals and customer service seem very good.
