I think I might have posted about this before.
Got some furniture in my bedroom that I just can’t keep as I’m having fitted wardrobes but I’m guessing the stuff is from the turn of the century. The thing Is, now I’ve got the thought in my head I REALLY wanna know the answer.
Is anyone a hobbyist or better a pro that could take a really good guess at the dates and origin?
Or suggestions as to how i could find out. I’ve tried google but to no joy (I’m probably also a really rubbish googler!)
Many thanks in advance x |

Do a Google image search for "early 20th century bedroom furniture" and see if any of the pics look similar to yours. If you think the furniture is older, search for late 19th century instead. |

I collect small ornaments and have several antiques in my home, nothing large apart from a winde up grama phone player, my advice is to check online and look for any tell tale signs, I appreciate you said you don't like looking online but I can tell you that's where the information is, have you ever seen a school for antiques? |

Took MrAitch’s advice and from what I can see it’s Edwardian (pre-ww1) and possibly German... could be totally wrong but it’s helping my interest at least.
It’s a shame though that they are three big pieces of furniture so I can’t be carting them across town
Had some really lovely and helpful inboxes though so thanks all xx |

"Stick them on marketplace loads of people, including me, are into upcycling furniture with paint like Frenchic
Jo x"
This if the point. I want to know a bit about them before I decide what to do, as don’t want to let something good go for a pittance. I think ultimately I will end up up cycling them myself but will see x |

I suppose at my age I could be considered an antique. So if you would like to give me a rub down, French polish and wax I can arrange transport? |

"Look for a name on the furniture.
Investigate the type of wood and method of manufacture.
Turn of the century ???? 1999 ? 2000 ?
No. 1900
I got it from a house clearance place x"
Was it flat packed with a name like flockendoppum on the packaging ?
It might pre date the house of Windsor and be from the house of ikea |

We've got a lot of upcycled furniture mostly from the 40s. A sewing box I bought has the wartime utility mark on the bottom (I bought some shoes with it on too) so that was fairly easy to date. Are there any marks on your things? |
