I seem to be getting worse as I get older.
I used to be a bit teary and want to eat everything in sight now I just feel absolute irrational rage
I just went food shopping and it took everything in my power not lose it!

You're not alone. I'm pretty emotional anyway a lot of the time, but around my period I cry over the silliest little things, or get irritated over things that wouldn't normally bother me at all.
And I eat more chocolate than I'd really care to admit.
And don't even get me started on the cramping and back pain |

I've never really suffered beyond being a bit more irritable than usual...until about a year ago when I became peri menopausal. Now it's horrid for 4-5 days every cycle, I'm like a different person...really irritable, very down and very emotional (which is not like me at all). Someone close that I recently stayed with witnessed it fully for the first time and described it as Jekyll and Hyde |

I've been saying for a few years now I'm getting worse as I'm getting older but now, now I'm starting to get concerned about it. It's not something I can laugh at now, it's actually genuine concern.
If I'm like this now, what the FUCK will I be like when I'm all menopausy?
I can spend hours and hours in bed crying. I eat anything that's not nailed down. The emotion tho, that's absolutely the worst. It's like actual anguish almost every month, like grief taking over my body. I'm so sad my chest hurts physically etc. |

I’ve known a couple of lovely ladies who become complete mentalists with PMS. Complete change of character. But they also become the horniest immediately after their period. Im possibly the only guy that has the Always period tracker on my phone so I can avoid or get my extra stamina ready!!?? |

Yeah I might do that - I literally had to hold my breath so I didn't scream at the staff on the self service checkout - she was only doing her job

In a ball gown because that's how we roll in N. Devon |
The three days before my period are always exactly the same. The first day I get completely irrationally pissed off with everything. Literally everything. I'm basically a raging psycho nutbag.
Second day I'm an emotional mess and cry at everything. For example, last month I cried when I woke up because my foot was cold as it had been out of the duvet. Racking sobs. Like my world was ending. And then I cried because that was fuxking stupid.
And the third day I get the utterly crazy raging superhorn.
There are no half measures here. |

I cried at an advert in the local paper yesterday that the cast of the pantomime were doing a virtual split screen Christmas singalong

It’s not something I can say I’ve ever experienced. The only difference I’ve noticed these last couple of years is the need / want to sleep for 3/4 days and I mean solid sleep awake for an hour or two.
I know friends that suffer badly with it to the point they isolate themselves as much as possible from others, in case they explode unnecessarily at them.
Maybe worth a chat with your GP to see if they can help |

I'm lucky in the sense that most of my symptoms are physical....all I want to do is sleep, same when my period actually comes. Tummy like a bowling ball and that's it.
My sister in law used to be like an axe murderer though. Must be horrible feeling like that every month. |

Mines a lot better since I've been on the mirena, but I get this one day where I'm positively a split personally!
Because I get no bleeding it's hard to keep track but I need to start logging it, it makes me think totally irrationally
At least it's only one day some of you poor ladies are getting it bad

I don't notice a monthly cycle of emotion, but i definitely go really high and then crash flat.. Wonder if its connected... might try and track it
I used to get terrible back ache/pain and would swell up like a seal, followed by raging superhorn.. Like, i coulda thrown the milkman to the floor, fucked the life out of him and then casually gone back to bed type horn |

Were you classed as peri-menpausal or anything beforehand?
I'm genuinely scared to do any hormone messing. I had the contraceptive injection way back when and turned into a psycho, the pill was the same.
Me and hormones don't mix well.

No I wasn't at all, I was just very sensitive to the hormone changes and so they put me in HRT. It worked so well. Involved a coil for one hormone and a gel for the other.
I can't do oral contraceptives, the injection made me bleed for 3 months and I wouldn't even entertain the implant. |

This is me. I'm a she devil on hormones, was on the pill for years, came off and was like a different person.
I can have a short fuse anyway but definitely a Mardy bitch on the run up. Once it kicks in, I'm grumpy for the first day then usually all sunshine and rainbows for the rest except the raging horn. I get that for about a week before and it lasts until a few days after I've finished so I'm basically just always horny apart from the first day, touch me, you die! |

I use a cycle tracker app on my phone. You can plug in loads of things like acne or bloating, the nights were you can't sleep etc. It's really useful and stops me at least from feeling like a crazy woman. Because I'm like ah ok this is that part of the cycle it will pass |

If this persists I will speak to my GP - I'm reluctant to take HRT - but I can't be a lunatic 3 - 5 days a month
