Depends on what you're basing 'attractive' on? There are people on here that for looks could have come straight off the cover of Vogue, but as soon as they express themselves, you wouldn't touch them with a barge pole. Alternatively, others physically, probably wouldn't get a second glance if you passed them in the street, but in fact are the warmest, kindest people you could ever wish to meet. |

Call me old fashioned, but I prefer there to be some kind of mutual like if I'm having sex. Would I have sex with someone based on looks alone? No I wouldn't. |

I can see pics that I find attractive, then read the profile and think 'nah'
I can also read profiles and think 'yeah, this might have legs', but then when you get chatting or meet you think 'nah'
I am really fussy, like the smallest thing can put me off

That also applies in reverse. Some Vogue cover models are the warmest, kindest people you could ever wish to meet and the ones who wouldn't get a second glance are deeply unattractive personally.

I find this very hard to believe... I'm talking about being offered sex with the most beautiful person on the planet that really fancies you but you turn her down because she pronunces 'specific' as Pacific and thinks the world is flat |

Nope, there's no rule that says you have to be attracted to anyone it doesn't make you shallow, we all have our types and preferences and if you haven't found yours on here then that's a shame but it's no reflection on you |

So many people ask you not to judge on looks. What they mean is don't judge on looks unless they are really good looking then it's fine to infer they're horrible. |

For me the most attractive thing in a woman aside form the normal physical traits is dancing eyes. That playful intelligence you can see when they look at you and smile.
You can't see that online. |

I'm off his list because, apart from everything else, I'm old, hence unattractive.
Someone should have told Sean Connery that in his 80s.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not at all sensitive about my age. I have lived the experiences befitting it and that's what counts for me, not the number or whether I'm attractive to everyone, which no one is.
I'm simply saying women were swooning over Sean Connery in his 80s. |

Attractiveness is subjective.
There are many men I find attractive on here, some are beautiful to look at but I see their posts or speak to them and I no longer find them attractive.
It works the other way too. |

I hope you don't get defensive about this but regarding my experiences, I have people engaged in talking to me because of said experience. If they found me unattractive in the first place, it soon disappears as we connect through communication. I hope you will find it in yourself to look past the superficial and see what lies behind a profile beyond age and photos. You might surprise yourself. |

I don't think its particularly shallow. We all have a 'type' that we're attracted to physically and character/personality traits we prefer. For some those definitions are broader than others. I would dare guess that on a site like this there is maybe more weight given to looks, at least at first, than when meeting in real life.
I would say the same about myself in that I am not attracted to a good many of the people here - that's not the same as saying they are unattractive of course, but I wouldn't meet for the sake of meeting. There has to be some kind of attraction *and* connection.
I often find that the ones I find physically attractive I don't 'click' with in terms of personality, and vice versa. |

I met a man who looked like Daniel Craig. I've never seen someone walk where both men and women stopped to stare: he was GORGEOUS!!!
He was oblivious to those around him, he was searching the crowd for me. When he came over, smiled his mega watt smile and started to talk my face fell: he sounded like Joe Pasquale.
I had a drink with him, he must have thought me a lush as I couldn't drink it fast enough to get away.
He made me change how I meet people, I have to speak over the phone. Anyone who sounds like Joe Pasquale, Danny Dwyer, Brian Blessed...no!

See here's where I suspect there's a definite difference between men and women (especially on here).
I'd wager most men would put up with a squeaky voice/irritating laugh (think Janice from Friends) for a one time, meaningless shag if she was attractive.
There's plenty of ways to stop someone talking after all.....

"I don't find many people on here attractive... Either in terms of personality or looks. Am I a horrible shallow person?"
Terms like attractive, or beautiful gorgeous etc are both subjective and personal. Each person has their own definition of what they mean to them.
The concept of attraction is a hugely complex field. As a sapiosexual, in essence I find attraction in lots of things beyond a physical presence. Also, I don't have a type as such. But sexy... that's much easier. It's not a shape or size, but an attitude. |

Not a bit OP. I've been on here five and half years now and I've had sex with three people. Though I've been going back to one for over two years now so he's got something going on. |

" straight off the cover of Vogue, but as soon as they express themselves, you wouldn't touch them with a barge pole
Really... You wouldnt want to have sex with them? Even if they said you could do anything? And you didn't have to talk to them?
Call me old fashioned, but I prefer there to be some kind of mutual like if I'm having sex. Would I have sex with someone based on looks alone? No I wouldn't.
I find this very hard to believe... I'm talking about being offered sex with the most beautiful person on the planet that really fancies you but you turn her down because she pronunces 'specific' as Pacific and thinks the world is flat"
OK here's an example.. Tom Hardy starts chatting me up in a Bar (no it's not a Bar at the Visually Impaired Convention) before anyone says something!
Now I fancy the beejesus pants off him... But he's coming across as rude, arrogant and an ego that's so inflated it could lift my fat old arse off the chair and he's boring...
He offers me sex..
Would I decline...
Damn right I would.
It takes more than attraction to have some fun with me.
And whilst there has to be mutual attraction, there also (in my opinion) has to be personality as well.
And 1,2,3...open your eyes and you are awake |

I feel like it’s pretty hard to judge personality on here in all honesty especially for guys (or just me) to get a potential reply and have enough interaction to get their true personality across,(or I’m totally wrong and I’m just a hell of a lot better face to face hah)
Also not finding people attractive doesn’t make you a horrible shallow person... we like what we like after all.. |

"Depends on what you're basing 'attractive' on? There are people on here that for looks could have come straight off the cover of Vogue, but as soon as they express themselves, you wouldn't touch them with a barge pole. Alternatively, others physically, probably wouldn't get a second glance if you passed them in the street, but in fact are the warmest, kindest people you could ever wish to meet."
And we're good at sex too because we're not afraid to be open about what we need. But, attraction starts with looks. Always has if you've a chance to see what they look like before having a conversation with them. |

Bad enunciation is a deal breaker for us, yes. |

"Lots of people here are ugly on the inside I'm afraid "
Ugly is only an inside trait... People's outsides aren't ugly... Only unattractive to some, there is a massive difference... Being beautiful on the outside is not enough and doesn't necessarily make someone attractive either |
