What would you buy, would you tell everybody or would you keep it private?
I don't think I would move house, I would pay off the mortgage here, as I like my home although there's very little storage and and property is very expensive to maintain as well as buy.
Maybe I would look at some investment property. I would change our cars, as they are getting old, and take the kids on nice holidays twice a year.
apart from that I think it would just be simple things like eating out when we can once or twice a week, and the occasional takeaway. I'm not even sure what else would change.
I would like to give something to family and also to some charities. I think it's quite hard with family there as I'm part of such a big family, I would have I really think that one through about how much to give and who to, as I couldn't leave anybody out.
It seems easier to keep it quiet, and just buy more generous presents for birthdays and Christmas.
What would you do if you found out you want £1,000000 today tax free?

I used to have a very boring job and I'd spend my day spending £1M in my head.
These days it wouldn't go very far but it would still be life changing. I definitely wouldn't tell anyone. |

I'd keep it quiet. Pay off my current mortgage. Restore my car to factory standard as I don't want to sell it. Invest in property I could rent out as a source of income to supplement what I already make. Sadly, a million isn't enough to retire in style |

I love spending £1000000 in my head, I've done it all my life.
If I can't fall asleep it's one of my favourite things to help. |

I've had a million pound retirement plan since I was 30. It's not a huge sum these days with average house prices what they are.
£25k a year tax free for 40 years.
I'd still work. Just less hours. And wouldn't tell a soul.

I would tell my family and a couple of close friends but otherwise would keep it quiet. I'd buy a slighter bigger house, a car and treat myself and the kids to a couple of bits. I'd give some to my mum and then I'd invest some of it so I had a steady income while I'll done my degree. |

I found the tell/ not tell bit the most difficult.
If I gave my brother money it would be damaging for him mentally and physically.
He likes travel and holidays so I would more likely buy him and my dad a holiday or two together.
They have always enjoyed travelling together rather than with friends. |

I wouldn't tell anyone except my parents and my kids, people's attitude towards you changes if they think you've got money.
I'd never wash and style my own hair again, have the heating on all day, probably buy a new car mines getting on a bit and have a load of dental work done. |

I think a million isn’t enough to retire, but it’s enough to make sure you’re financially stable for the rest of your life.
I’d first buy a house in a decent area but needed work doing to it. So I’d get it cheaper than the market value for the area and as I had cash in the bank can negotiate good prices for builders and suppliers.
I’d buy a Tesla as I always fancied one and think they’d be a good investment.
That’s at least 300k gone or even closer to 400k.
So the 600k would then be invested to bring back an income which would mean I’d only have to work part time and retire earlier. |

If I won, I'd put the money alongside the cash I won last time. Probably spend all my time counting it, by candlelight of course, and wearing my nightgown and cap to enjoy the full Ebenezer experience. |

If I won a million pounds tax free, I'd jeep if very private.
I'd ensure mine and my siblings houses are all paid off in full (say 400k).
Id buy a new house (450k), give 50k to the folks and then with the rest (100k) it would most likely go on a good knees up with my mates, various charities i feel strongly about, maybe a new truck. |

I wouldn't tell anyone. There is at least anecdotal evidence that big wins can destabilise people psychologically.
I'd get some medical stuff done privately (tubal ligation mostly), I'd create a nest egg, I'd do some self improvement/ professional development and I'd give a big chunk to charity. |

I’d pay for my mum to go private to get both her knees done. Not sure that would help with her mobility now but it would help with the pain she is constantly in.
I’d buy a modest holiday home in West Wales near the beach and I’d buy a single storey home here. Bigger than a standard bungalow so there is plenty of room for us all and my mum can get around more easily with a large garden for the kids to play in and me to sit out in.
I’d buy a bigger family car and then after putting money away for my kids, I’d put the rest away for a rainy day. |

I'd pay off my mortgage and rent this house out for income, then buy a modest but detached house in the same area (lockdown has confirmed that I don't like neighbours....especially mine ). I'd buy an apartment somewhere by the sea in a place where I'd like to spend more time. And I'd buy a new car. The rest would be invested as a nest egg and I'd carry on working to pay the monthly bills, but probably get a less stressful job as I wouldn't need to earn as much. |

It would make better financial sense to convert your mortgage to a buy-to-let one. |

I would build an extension. Have the whole house refurbed. I would buy a couple of cheaper buy to let houses for social housing. A house in Crete. I would invest as much as possible. It would change my life though |
