Do you guys and gals have the same dark humor some people don't understand ?

I had I guy at work accidentally stab himself with box cutters. I made sure he was ok before replying " Does it hurt bet you are not doing that again." Got called into HR for them to tell me that being a female I should be more sensitive to other people's feelings. It's just hard to do sometimes. I guess it's a coping mechanism.

The fuck? I'd be reporting your HR person for sexism!

If i made a comment like that to a female colleague I'd be dragged over the bloody coals.

As far as the joke; that line is part of my general repertoire

Isn't the correct response: Laugh, take pictures, administer first aid?

You could argue you were stating a fact with humour ... "you won't do that again"

Was HR person a bloke? I'd be making a formal complaint if i were you. Doesnt matter what you did/said ... there's no justification for sexist comments from HR

My humour can be very dark and black! Oh and don't get me started on the PC liberal brigade. Thankfully I don't need to worry about pick up lines.

"I work with animals," the guy says to his date. "That's so sweet," she replies. "I love a man who cares about animals. Where do you work?" "I'm a butcher," he says.

But seriously, first aid is not a laughing matter, if not administered correctly it can have tragic consequences!

Two hunters are in the woods when one of them collapses. His hunting buddy immediately calls 911. "My friend isn't breathing," he shouts into the phone. "What should I do?" "Relax," the operator tells him. "I can help. First, let's make sure he's dead." There's silence, and then a gunshot. The guy gets back on the phone and says, "OK, now what?"

If you are asking if the UK military have the same dark /warped humour as yours I would say yes. I served alongside the USMC for 18 months in a joint operation and the only difference was we had a more professional attitude to tasks and less of a gung ho one and it follows through into roles after leaving.

OP to be honest I’m not sure what you said wrong, I grew up hearing that as a child (army brat) and it’s something I’ve said to friends, colleagues and my lad in adult life. For me it’s a natural logical statement to make

Its a necessary thing the rivalry to make people fight for their units with pride and forget they are putting themselves in danger. Though the jarheads I worked alongside were something else on the run in all guns blazing mentality. Saying that I still regard many as real friends.I always likes the interaction between marines and rangers in bars pure theatre it was.

I don't see anything wrong with what you said at all. But then I have a sarcastic dark sense of humour like many people where I live. Not military or anything like that though.

It didn't sound insensitive either.

I'm self employed so can't sack myself. If he'd have done that in my company I'd have laughed and said "ha ha you dum c#nt! You cut your self you fuc#king idiot"! Before patching him up and sacking him for being a hazard to himself. No dark humour needed.

My humour is pretty horrendous. In civilian life I really do have to watch what I say. Especially the way things are and how easy it is to end up in hot water regardless of your intent. To the extent I sometime genuinely get anxiety about about someone being offended by what I say and ramifications of people looking for their pound of flesh. I love being in the company of people who share my humour and where I'm safe to say what comes out of my head without people being butt hurt. It feels good to be able to relax and be myself without worrying about offending someone.

Luckily Mrs Misfit has a very dark humour first too, that party why we work so well.

There is a famous story from the Falklands War when a soldier was being treated by a medic on the battlefield who had lost his leg was complaining ‘OMG I’ve lost my leg’ .... to which the medic replied .. no you haven’t, it’s over there!!!

Additionally, in recent years in the military hospital in Hedley Court where soldiers were being rehabilitated, soldiers who had lost a leg below the knee were known as ‘fleshies’ .... as in this is nothing more then a ‘flesh wound’ - there were those who had lost perhaps more limbs, or were more seriously injured, and they were considered to have a minor injury!!

It is a humour the rest of society struggles to understand, but Is absolutely a coping mechanism!
