Know I'm biased but Madness - biggest selling singles band of the 80s, yet never won a Brit, barely ever critically recognised and yet just about everyone knows their hits - but many don't look beyond those singles and funny videos to see what great albums they released with some very clever lyrics covering a range of very relevant topics |

My vote goes for Talk Talk. Written off as synth pop and then went madly experimental."
I wholeheartedly endorse both of these sentences. Would have gone for Talk Talk myself. |

Strangely I'd personally have said Talk Talk were more commercially successful and recognisable than either Prefab or Scritti - all three were good bands though |
