C&A? 
When I was a kid I hated that place
Mum:
"Hey kids, do you fancy a day at the metro centre, have a look around and we'll goto the cinema"
Us:
"Yey!"
The exciting day trip to the metro centre consisted of 3 hours of my Mum looking at clothes in fekkin C&A
The most boring day trip ever, bribed by promise of a film at the cinema.

This occured several times and we never learned our lesson, we always fell into her trap.
Realisation only set in once we walked to the section that contained C&A.
We did always go to the cinema so she lived up to her promise.
But no popcorn I'm afraid, we used to go to a sweet shop elsewhere in the metro centre and sneek the sweets in as it was cheaper |

The lesson she was teaching you was patience. All good things come to those who wait.
She was very clever to avoid the popcorn. Honestly, what is wrong with British cinemas? They can't make decent popcorn to save their lives!! |

The funny thing is, now I do this.
Not C&A but I happily spend hours looking at clothes and shoes and not buy anything |

We had a truly joyful time.
My favourite was being taken to the woods bilberry picking.
Oh the joy of being attacked by flies and ants whilst putting those tiny berries into tubs for hours on end.
Then the joy of having purple bilberry stained hands that took ages to clean.

That's exactly right 
Although I didn't enjoy this sort of stuff at the time, it's what I look back on and realise how much time my parents spent with us doing stuff.
Not like these days where kids are in their room on a playstation all night.
I had a good upbringing.

The last time I was in C and A the Ladies toilet was out of order so there was a big queue for the disabled one. A nun approached me and said she was desperate for the loo so would use the Mens rather than queuing. She asked if I would stand at the door and not let a man in until she came out (I assume as she didn't want to walk past one using the urinal). As she was in a man did approach the loo and I asked him to wait
He looked so shocked when the nun came out. |
