If there was a thread on a forum that asked for your opinion on a subject BUT you can only post ONCE...
would you:
jump in or take your time to think your answer through.
sit and wait until others post and see what they say.
would what others say influence your post or if you have posted, change what you have posted.
once you post... would you not look at the thread again incase you see something said and you want to make a counterpoint... or would you keep on reading it and able to deal with the temptation to go back in...

I would:
post with my gut instinct and not bother if it was before others have posted, I wouldn't be influenced by others posts..
but I would not read it after that... because I know I would not able to control my need to go back in |

It would depend on if the question required a bit of thought
I would'nt wait to see what the general consensus was though before I replied
I would look at the thread again to see what other peoples _iews were though
I would possibly have to sit on my hands to prevent myself from posting again if there was something I felt I wanted to comment on
Would there be a forfeit if someone posted twice?.......just checking

Think about it for about 5 mins over a coffee and chocolate digestive, drafting and rewriting in my head.
Then just jump in with my initial thoughts as is often the case! The more I analyse something - the more likely I am to post what I think someone wants to hear - rather than my gut feeling or _iewpoint.
Time for another biscuit! |

Id have an initial opinion that was formed when id read the post, after thinking about it more id probably see another point of _iew.
Id more than likely post towards the middle section after reading a few others opinions. I would start my post with my initial thoughts and if they were swayed and could agree with a different prospective then i would add that too.
Yes i would continue to read the thread as someone else could have a very valid point to add. No shame in learning new things. |

I sometimes jump in if it is a lighthearted thread. If it was more serious, I would tend to read what others felt. I can't say I am never influenced by others, especially if others bring forward _iews and share experiences I was not aware of. |

Yes, because it would probably something that I felt strongly about, or I felt I could learn from. Then it would be very hard to sit on my hands and not re-post |

After Reading the thread I'd think about my response then post it based on my own logic and gut as opposed to that of others.
I wouldn't specifically wait for anyone else to post, that said, it's usually the previous posts that put the 'meat onto the bones' of a thread, so I might not be interested in the thread until it has got going and has some contrasting _iews on it.
I would continue to read the thread because if it interested me enough to post, I would be interested in other peoples _iew on the subject. It's how we learn what others are really about and puts a little depth behind peoples profiles.

im quite opinionated,i dont think it comes across on my threads, and thats because i steer well clear of politics etc, occasionally i cant help myself, however if i have posted i stick by what iv said because it is my opinion,i would def come back and read everyone elses thoughts, couldnt help myself
but the main reason i steer clear of certain threads is because for me the forums are a source of fun,i have enough stress in everyday work not to want it on here,i quite often just lurk all night without saying anything, phew that was long winded |

I would probably go at it like a project. Get a pen and paper, not down all the points I agreed with and those I didn't and draft a reply, then type it in word and spell check it, then cut n paste it in. But then, that's just the kinda retentive guy I am......... |

Would give the issue some serious thought to make sure I covered the points I felt were relevant.
If its an issue I feel very strongly about I wouldn't be bothered about waiting to see what others had to say.
Yes, I would follow the thread...but I know I would struggle not to go back in again, but would try reeeeally hard to control my typing finger |

Usually I don't post serious comments really, but the odd time I do, I like to think about the best way to word it, otherwise I ramble and it makes no sense.
I also would wait till a few others had posted cos sometimes other people are far better at expressing something I may be feeling.
Also someone might post summit that makes me go 'Oh, I didn't think of that'
I would carry on reading and maybe wish I could comment again...but would probably stick to the rules |

I have my own _iews and opinions on everything, formed/gained via my own experiences through the years.
If it can be demonstrated that my _iews and opinions are incorrect based on objective evidence and not subjective opinion, than I would happily admit I am in the wrong on the subject matter.
At work and in the area of my expertise, I may not always be right, however, I am seldom wrong.

The political ones usually get people nicely riled up. Did you listen to the Helena Kennedy piece on R4 this morning - the link between the law and banking? Lots in there to cover morals, politics, capitalism, class and other systems. |

If I could only post once it would depend on what the thread was about. If I cared enough about it then I'd just say what I had to say/ my opinion. Otherwise I wouldn't post at all.
I probably wouldn't let people influence me at the start if it was something that I felt really strongly about.
However I would definitely go back and see what other people have read as I am quite happy to change my opinion if I realise later that I was wrong, or if I learned something new.
I wouldnt change what I'd posted, but I'd be happy to admit that I changed my opinion/ _iewpoint.
I would be ok with not being able to reply again. Unless it was something that made me irate, then I would sit and grumble to myself for ages like a loon.
Excellent thread, I loved this!! |
