Is there an optimum age?

I’m sure I’m like a lot of people here! I look at a profile, think “ooh interesting, should probably say hello here” only to find I’m either too old or too young! Lol usually only a year or two out each way! Now, I wonder is there an optimum age? Any thought?

For swinging? Probably between 35 and 55.

No.... Everyone's age preferences differ. A 20 year old wouldn't have the same optimum age as a 40 year old.

But most would say age is just a number.

Many other factors involved.

Totally agree, I have met some 30 year olds that look 50 and 50 year olds that look 30..age is a number..and beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.. xx

I completely agree and can only imagine how many messages women would be inundated with if they didn’t have a preference range. It’s tough though when there’s an arbitrary number that just closes out an opportunity. If you were in a club say or even just a bar chatting, for many people a swing (excuse the pun) of 5 or so years might not even be noticeable

Age doesn't really bother me. If someone was really hot, I would not be discounted them because they were a certain age.

*Disclaimer - of course if they were under 18.

I've just upped my age range on my profile although the lower and higher end of it are not set in stone, I tend not to play with people younger than me. It really depends on the person. If I drop my age filters though, my inbox can go a bit crazy.

Completely agree, I’m the same but often find myself precluded from messaging

I can imagine, and I suppose that’s why we need filters. I just wonder how many perfect matches are missed lol I guess we will never know

A club or bar is a perfect example for when age doesn't necessarily matter. You either like the person or you don't based on the attraction, be that physical or personality or both etc.

Exactly this! It's very different when out compared to online.

somerset

I’m constantly turned down by couples and females for my age. It’s such a pain in the arse because when I actually get a reply it ends up being a no Deal anyway

I wouldn't say "perfect matches" are missed though because it's preference. Yes I stop younger people getting in to my inbox but if I was actually looking (which I'm not) I would go looking myself and therefore relax the age filters a little more but generally age filters are there for a reason.

You are always judged by age trust me. Maybe not the actual number but people look and see young, middle aged or old and make immediate judgements based on whichever category you fit in to.

An example, people who don't know me look at my age and judge that I will know nothing about current technology. They'd be wrong.

It's a perennial problem on fab though. People with an upper age limit complaining that their age excludes them from other people's profiles
