I sympathise with you. Being blind in one eye myself, it is hit or miss if I get both eyes the same.

No trick I’m afraid, just a lot of practice!

I know exactly what you mean Davina. I can close my right eyelid easily & keep it shut but try the left & it makes my face screw up lol. And being heavily right handed doesn't help either.

I do my right lid first, using the pads of my left index & middle fingers to hold the eyelid shut by the lashes gently while applying.

Then the left but reverse the brush head to sweep out. I can't apply shadow with my left hand at all. I always go dark first with brighter colour above two tone.

Once both lids are done, gently pull down the lower skin to apply eye pencil on the tear line. Never do that first, always do the upper eye to completion. Liquid eyeliner wings. Then a gentle sweep of colour under the eye & up past the wing. Finally mascara to finish.

I'm now getting used to using false lashes but OMG are they fiddly even with tweezers lol.

Definitely practice.

If you're short sighted, a magnifying mirror helps (I have significant vision imbalance between eyes), Boots No 7 do one with a ring light which isn't desperately expensive.

A steady hand, rest your elbow on a surface when applying.

It's not easy.

Same issue with my eyeliner.

No problem with my right eye, but with my left my hand shakes and I almost stab my eye lol

I remember sitting on the ferry to the uk a couple of years ago, watching this stunning lady nearby apply her mascara before we docked in Heysham. She did her right eye no probs & I thought right this will be interesting, I'm gonna watch this closely. She did this thing with her right arm almost like a dislocation & just did the left eye with staggering ease! I was like wow she's good but I've never been able to replicate it & still end up arsing about. And yes I regularly end up sticking things in my left eye with my left hand, failing to judge how close I am to disaster in the mirror
