Colindale

This subject has been in my thoughts for a while and i want to get the long term forumites opinions on the matter.

For example, i post something on a thread that reads 'say something nice about the person above'

Now normally, if i have posted there before i go to check and see what has been said about me, reply to it and then i go back and post something about the person above me so they are not skipped.

What i have come across many times is that sometimes when i post something, and its usually the lads that do this, i get skipped for the person above lol this might be by accident as the threads move quick, when it happens to me, i always rectify and post another so the order is corrected lol or sometimes someone will reply to a post way way above and just completely leave me hanging because the next person just comments on them

Now what i want to know is, what is the correct etiquette here. Because if i jump back into that thread, its like im asking for attention but if i dont i feel like I've been wronged

I want a discussion about this and other things that may have happened to other users. Tell me, am i somehow doing something wrong or do i care too much??

And while i have the chance, i wish everyone a beautiful upcoming week!

I think you are overthinking things.

It's happened to everyone at least once I reckon and it will continue to happen, but it's not worth worry over as a similar thread will just be created again after a couple of days. Then you can have your redemption

They’re just light hearted threads so people can blow smoke up each other’s asses, don’t get so hung up about it

And breath

I thought similar when I first joined op, well for the first couple of months. I think the popular threads do move quickly so sometimes people get missed. There are also times when someone sees someone they like and comments on their comment instead of the next in line. Personally, I don't let getting skipped bother me anymore, it did for a short time, now(as you've said you do yourself) I'll comment again on the next person's post if I want to stay involved in the thread. Tbh honest though now I usually leave a comment or 2 and then move on which probably isn't great etiquette, but there are no actual rules as to how to comment on the forum properly so as not to leave people out.

Just do you op and don't worry too much

I think sometimes it's an accident, sometimes it's deliberate, sometimes it becomes a cliquey takeover

The other thing is, many guys wait til a hot woman posts before chipping in.

If Joe Average is last on the list, it can be a while before someone answers

The forums are inclusive. To an extent.

This really.

Forum folk fancy other forum folk and they will highlight that at the expense of someone else’s post.

I avoid those threads, cause people only comment so that someone says something nice about them, I’m not Massaging egos, if I like someone I’ll message them directly and yeah, you’re over thinking it!

I’ve just always ignored those threads

I prefer the more highbrow topics like - “rate my cock” or “please look at me ...PLEASE!!!”

Basically as soon as a girl comments, every guy despite her not being the one above will just ignore above and comment on her and then it all goes into one whole lamp posting pissing contest.

Then like you say, guys will feel like they’ve been missed and comment again and it’s starts all over again

Best leaving them well alone...they never end well

There and to the left a bit

In five years here almost it's ever been thus OP - there is no etiquette on threads like that - the "done" thing is of course to respond to the poster before only but it's impossible/doesn't happen (delete as appropriate) because guys will always skip other guys to get to the woman they fancy, because the thread moves so fast that by the time you post someone else has responded and any number of other reasons.

I have been known to delete and re-post when the latter happens to me, but you can end up chasing your tail trying to keep up.

Think you're overthinking it a little though - when it happens just laugh at all the guys saying "snog" to the bloke above because he typed faster

My posts get ignored all the time, if I let it get to me I would be a quivering mess by now. I just console myself with the fact that I find myself amusing and interesting even if no one else does.

This explains why I get ignored as well then.
