So I'm riding home beside a big river tonight and kept seeing little lime green spots on the grass / river bank.

I got curious after a while and, we seem to have fire flies around these parts.

I haven't seen any since I was last in Denver USA - I thought we didn't get them here - any one else seen any??

In the UK we don't get Fireflies, we get Gloworms........

The Female's abdomen glows so as to attract a mate, a Greed Light district, if you will.......

Jesus Christ - I know what a fire fly is, I used to catch them in Vermont - little place called brattleborough.

I took a pic aswell, it's a fire fly.

Yep - just checked and we new get them in the UK

That's really cool - look like a long wasp - wings and all but the mid / rear end light up - usually found near water.

Yay

Check out www . glowworms . org . uk

You may well have seen fireflies, but they are not native to UK and if they were fire flies they will be dead by the end of winter......

Glow worms like limestone gravel, this is why you can often find them along old railway tracks........
