Real or fake profiles ??

Am I the only one noticing a lot of fake profiles on here. Someone asked for my number after speaking for a while I gave it to her. While we spoke on WhatsApp I asked to video call or A normal Phone call and they panicked and blocked me Lool |

The problem is when you’re from a small town like me you want to stay anonymous which means you don’t have pics of you’re face on you’re profile, that apparently means I’m “fake” I’m happy sending pics of me when I’ve spoke to someone abit or they are far enough away where I can be sure they don’t know anyone in my town |

I don’t video call unless I’ve met and know you- just no. Depends what you mean by panicked I’ve blocked people before if they just won’t leave it alone and keep asking. |

U clearly didn’t read what I said there was a clear exchange of numbers and we ended up talking on another platform. When I asked to call or video call she suddenly decided to stop reply. You clearly replied for the sake of replying rather than properly reading |

I mean she literally stopped replying and I only asked once, then I said “you’re probably a fake account” and they blocked me straight away |

There are plenty of fake profiles on fab. Generally easy to spot. It doesnt necessarily mean all are. We dont give out our phone number unless we are absolutely going to meet someone. I hate phone calls at the best of times. There are plenty of other messaging apps to use. And they out the people that are expecting us to meet yesterday. Despite our profile making it clear we wont.

I feel your pain OP. For some reason you always get "maybe they just don't like you" or "you must have said something" on the forums when this subject is raised. I'm not sure why people try and gloss over the fact there are thousands of fake profiles on here, it's a fact.
I had the same issue as you, a "woman" messaged me, was very keen (yes she was instigating everything) and asked did I fancy chatting on WhatsApp. I said yes and (because I've fallen foul of the phone number scam before) I replied and said drop me your number and I'll message you. My message was subsequently read, deleted and then absolutely nothing.
Some saddos around unfortunately. |

Just to add I'm not sure women on here understand how bad catfishing is. Unless you've experienced it, i think most people just assume it's the victim being overly sensitive.

I've been cat fished... Found out he was using a bloke from Instagrams photos. When I confronted him I got blocked.
Ive also been stood up to come back on line and be blocked.
Then the married men.. They have a routine and it's do easy to spot |

There’s loads of fakes on here. I think I’ve got good fakedar after being on and off a few years. There are signs to look out for, but really it’s just a bit of intuition |

Your first post says you talked. Do you mean you texted? You can talk on Kik without giving personal numbers out, and it isn't necessarily a "regular phone call" etc. Before snarling back, maybe chek if you're clear on why you get the responses you get?
I rarely give out my info, either.
For those of us who are quite real, it gets very old when men are demanding and then call us fake because they are paranoid.
This issue definitely goes both ways, and makes it more difficult for everyone.

Fab forums do not like the word fake and will generally roast you for it suggesting it's just sour grapes

Absolutely op I think I can illustrate quite clearly there are a number of alleged female profiles which have the soul purpose of enacting some sort of scam
I'm quite sure "Brittney" who needs a site supporters pass is 100 percent genuine I expect her to post next declaring how really real she is

I don't know why more people don't use apps like Kik to chat tbh. Can block straight away if the other person is fake/a nobhead/not right for you etc and you've not given out any personal details. We all know there are tossers on here, both legit and fake, and the last thing you want to do is give your number out without at least chatting on cam (various ways of doing this).
Once you've given it out to the wrong person it's a long slippery slope. |

I've also got the hump before now and cut people off when they want to vid call.
I dunno, sometimes you just get that feeling and thought that washes over ya where your brain goes "aaaaand here we go, how long before they're asking to see my poontang or tits if I say yes?"

Don't get me wrong with my other posts, it may well have been Uncle Bill from Buffalo, but there have been times I've felt pressure when someone suggests it.

All anyone can do is use the filters Fab has given you wisely.
Yes it means that you have to lock down your profile to a certain extent but it’s certainly worked for us.

I’ll speak on the phone but will not video chat. I wouldn’t meet a guy without putting a bit of makeup on and doing my hair so won’t do a video chat without doing the same.
I look rough 80% of the time so no video calls here please. |

This is very reasonable my problem with the person wasn’t the number part because she asked for my number to which I gave her and then when I just asked to call or video call so we can both know that this is legitimate and real. She literally got quiet and stopped messaging me ?? I wouldn’t have been adamant on video calling, hearing a woman’s voice on a normal call would have been enough till she’s comfortable with a video call |

Another 7 or 8 new users on my local updates feed again today and you can tell Tel thirds of them are blatantly fake or OnlyFans etc. It really is getting beyond a joke now (one fake Kik account shows up literally other day).
Mods - isn't there any way that profiles won't show on feeds until they've been photo verified? |

Fakes are mostly very easy to spot because the men who make them are lazy, and always follow the same criteria.
Cute young girl photos, short profile, always looking for other women or couples etc. They stand out like a sore thumb |

It's not infallible though. I reported a profile last week as they had used multiple face pics of a lady I know. The profile was photo verified, but I knew for a fact it wasn't her. The profile lasted about 3 days...
The problem with having to be photo-verified to use the site is that not everyone will be open to it, and the membership numbers will go down as this requirement also affects the genuine people who join because they're curious or those who want to be protect their privacy. It's better just to use your common sense when looking at profiles - they are generally easy to spot. |

We're not photo verified. Never felt the need. Plenty of others aren't either.
Doesn't mean we're fake.
How hard would it be for someone to get a fake photo veri? Not hard at all.

That does sound fishy, even if she didn’t like talking on the phone or video call then she could have just said that.
I find video calls (pg rated, not with their cock out) useful, especially in current times when even a social isn’t really possible.
There are lots of fake profiles for both men and women. |

We had several meet verifications long before we submitted a photo for verification.
Can't even remember why we did it now.
Despite our (then) published verifications people still called us fake.
It was usually the people we'd declined to meet.
