Nobody is forced to use a face picture, I agree as a male it is maybe more expected, as it can be used as a method of filtering by the outnumbered ladies and couples. Keeping one in the friends only is common practice  |

I get why people wouldnt have them on public but you should sent one to someone if your gonna meet them like how they even gonna know if they like the look of you? |

Nothing fair / unfair about it.
It's your decision to show or share what you like. The same for them.
If you don't like that they won't share a face pic, just move on.

I had an abusive ex before I joined the site.
I was proper paranoid about where I went and who I spoke to for the first 6 months or so as he was unpredictable. I didn't have face pics up but I did ask for them first. I dunno, it kinda made me feel safer that it was nobody he knew (ok it could have been him or someone he knew using random photos in reality but unlikey)
There are also a minority of "men" (use that term loosely) who will threaten to "out" you to friends and family and put your pics on lamp posts etc if you reject them and they have your face pics.

If you don’t want to meet someone who won’t send a face pic first (which is understandable) then just don’t talk to them. If I get a message from someone and their profile says “we don’t share face pics” I don’t reply. |

Our local list always gets a couple of new members every Friday & always from Shrewsbury rarely anywhere else.
By my reckoning 80% of the town must be on here.

Yep, but you make your choice, we will not send face pics in a first message so any profiles that say they want one we swerve unless they have their faces up already in public pics.
Rather have a bit of messaging to see if we are on the same page first & to ensure they are real before we give our privacy away.

If someone messages me expecting a face pic right away, I wouldn't
I might not be interested, or want to share my face pic with that person.
If you display your face that's a risk you choose to take I'm afraid. |

Yeah that happened to me some guy from here found my Facebook and posted my pics under my profile picture in my comments had to get the cops involved but I'm still posting my face pics cos I'm dumb  but it was really stressful at the time I hate guys that do that. Also I love your posts and your videos honestly you are amazing x |

I don’t display face pics but my profile states that “if you’re gonna take the trouble to drop me a line, please enclose a face photo” . It also states that I will only engage with guys I’m considering meeting . So there is no guarantee that someone initiating a conversation with a face pic will get a reply anyway but of course if I opt to reply I will enclose mine .
If I initiate the first contact I enclose a face pic as a matter of course . |

If they don’t want to send a face pic then that’s their choice. Just move on.
I usually don’t have a problem sending a face pic but I’m the odd occasion I have not wanted them to see who I am... it’s my choice.
I wouldn’t expect a meet without seeing and then seeing face pics. |

People don't have to show face pics if they don't want to at any stage. You are happy to have yours public but a lot aren't. I only show mine when I have chatted a good while now. If someone hassles me for one early on I'll stop talking. I never ask for one as normally it will happen as the chat progresses anyhow. I've actually met a couple of people without exchanging pics before.
Also with the way people are sharing pics of others in certain groups it makes me a lot more wary of showing mine now. |
