I think she has the 007 moniker at the start of the film as bond has retired. In the trailer he says "you're a double oh?" and she replies. Yes almost two years... So TECHNICALLY she is the next 007. |

Basically she is the new 007 at the beginning of the movie because bond effectively retired at the end of spectre ... by the end of this movie Bond will be 007 again and she will be dead / unemployed .
The media though are enjoying baiting the racists and sexists with this news, almost like they enjoy getting people all riled up.
The news was first reported about this time last year too before the official announcement of the movie before its many date changes |

Yup that's the way I understood it. So she wasn't lying when she said she was the next 007..but it could be seen as a tad misleading |

Maybe she's just a new 00 agent, another part of the franchise? |

See thatd work for me. Same goes for the cry for a black bond. Bond was white, always was always should be. There's nothing racist about it. But there's another 8 double ohs so there's the solution. If you want a black super spy, give then their own double oh.

A 00 series exploring some of the others could be a winner |

I feel exactly the same as do many hard 'Bond fans'.
It could kill the franchise. |

This isn't supposed to sound sexist but surely the whole point of James bond is he's a licensed thug who's aim is to penetrate.. and destroy the baddy and his organisation....by penetrating.. literally the baddy s sexy sidekick... he's not a proper spy ... who's success is achieved by not being discovered....
The James bond is franchise is based on a plot as familiar as a porn film ...and bond fans will want their bond cliché fixes...shaken not stirred...shag the girl with the innuendo name...blow up stuff ...use clever gadgets and shag the goodie girl after ...
I'd like to see the female version of this... resurrect modesty Blaise...but leave Jimbo alone please |

Just as long as she isn't Bond, could be interesting. |

Can’t that all be reversed and be a woman, we can blow things up, fight, use gadgets, drop innuendo and still take the good time guy at the end |

I love the Bond movies, every actor brought something different. I remember when Daniel Craig took over I had this image in my head that Bond had to be dark-haired.. probably because all the previous Bonds had been. I was disappointed before I had seen the movie and quite determined I would not like him.
Well, within half an hour I was convinced that he would be amazing. And I am thinking this would happen if we have a female Bond for a change. Guys, you can start day-dreaming of what it might be like to be told by the next female Bond... Resistance is futile - just think about that one for a moment... |

I noticed other people posted comments on how they felt about the role being played by a woman and that is what I did. How is my comment different from what other posters have written? |

I’ll wait and see what happens. I’ve always enjoyed Bond movies since childhood, with the odd duffer along the way. I’m happy to watch it evolve and suspend judgement. Black Panther was one of the most successful and Woke films of the Marvel franchise. Why wouldn’t a female secret service agent work? Red Sparrow is one that comes to mind and that was excellent. |

Rolls eyes.
Well the Barbara broccoli is supposed to be try to sell the franchise and move on to other things. If true, gender politics will kill another franchise.
RIP Star Trek RIP Star Wars RIP Bond. |

No no no! No female Bond. Ever!
No problems with another 00 that is female, but Bond is a man.
As was Doctor Who. Jodie Whittaker is a great actress and all round great gal, but she shouldn't be Doctor Who. Haven't watched it since |

The whole concept of James Bond being a woman is completely mad... unless he is going to have a sex change. There is absolutely no reason why there can't be Bond-like female spy, but James Bond can't be a woman... because he is a man.

I have no issue with a female Dr Who, as there is the "regeneration concept" which makes allowances for it.

She isn’t going to be Bond. Just the new 007. They are in the same film together she takes over when he is exiled. |

RIP Star Trek RIP Star Wars RIP Bond.
Star Trek and Star Wars were killed by Jar Jar Abrams, not "gender politics". "
Exactly this... Star Trek was the most progressive series of its time well before “lens flare” JJ got involved... and Star Wars has always had strong female characters ... Leia and Mon Mothma |

Since I just posted it in the other thread about this, here it is again:
Oh, fucking hell, not this shit again.
No, the new James Bond is *not* a black woman.
Lyshana Lynch is playing Nomi, the agent who now holds the 007 designation. James Bond himself isn't using it because he retired at the end of Spectre.
This was confirmed back in December 2019. It was then confirmed again back in July, and for some reason has been confirmed again in the last few days.
The fact that this is still being trotted out as "news" is just misogynistic shit-stirring.
"007" is the code name. "James Bond" is the person. The idea that "James Bond" is part of the code name is at the present time just a fan theory, perhaps influenced by the multiple decoy "James Bond 007s" in the non-canonical 1967 Casino Royale spoof.
There is strong and long-established precedent for different characters carrying the various 00-numbers.
002 is killed in Thunderball. An entirely different 002 is then also killed in The Living Daylights.
003 appears in Thunderball. A different 003 is found dead in A View to a Kill.
004 appears in Thunderball. A different 004 is killed in The Living Daylights.
006 appears in Thunderball. A different 006 is killed in Goldeneye.
009 appears in Thunderball. A different 009 is killed Octopussy. 009 is then mentioned in both The World Is Not Enough and Spectre, so presumably there is at least one more.
(Interestingly, Ian Fleming mentions a 0011 in the Moonraker novel.) |
