In the past I've bought some rubbish! I've found unless it's commercial grade it just doesn't do the job. I'm considering a freestanding dip station with pull up bar, then you can always put weights on your ankles too..

"Posted in the virus section?"

Probably wouldn't need a home gym if it wasn't for the virus

Resistance bands are one of the best things you can buy. Not too expensive and you can usually train your whole body with them. Great investment imo!

Bought a cheap turbo from Halfords then made a frame for it. There's a dolly-wheel on the back so that I can lift it and move it to where I want it plus holders for mobile devices to monitor sensors and run u-tube turbo sessions.

Couldn't agree more. Last lockdown I bought a set of bands and some 5kg dumbbells, and between the two I could keep myself ticking over until gyms reopened. You can achieve a lot with bands and relatively low weight.

Exactly!! As long as you're consistent and perform more reps than you normally would, you will continue to see development. I usually like lifting heavy weights and testing my strength, but I'm gonna use this 1 month to make my body more toned and to lose that excess fat!!

Yeah same. For me, this month is going to be about joint health, core strength, and general repair. Plenty of yoga and bodyweight stuff.

I hit a PB on squats this morning, so it's a good way to start a month off the gym.

Good luck all!

Good stuff, gives you a bench mark for when you return to the gym. How much did you squat btw?

We’re lucky to have a gym here, but despite that our most used thing is probably the adjustable dumbbells. Can do plenty with them even just on the floor or a chair. Would highly recommend them.

Stay away from the rubbish multigym type machines though, unless you spend a decent amount it’s going to be wobbly and light weights.

Good luck and happy lockdown.

6 or 7 foot 20kg olympic bar, 2" bore.

2" bore large weights.

2x 5kg

2x 10kg

2x 15kg

Cheap bench

You can train every muscle with that

You can but it's not much weight

I'd go dumbbells over bar

Use trx and disadvantaged leverage

Iv been doing a lot with 2 42 kg dumbbells trx/rings and slabs sand bags

I love those in the gym but I'm not sure it's a good idea in an apartment

I cannot recommend strongly enough however good tuition and an understanding of ones biomechanics is very important

Oh they're so fantastic. Really helped me with injury rehab, slowly learning to put my weight on my leg at increased ranges of motion again.

Love/hate relationship at the start, though.
