Something i have lived with since before i can remember, but only something ive felt ok with talking about in the last couple of years,

A massive part of my life, worrying about far to much, over thinking tiny details. Learning to live with it now, to manage and control my thoughts and swing them into postive thoughts.

Anyone else live with it?

Anyone want to talk about it?

Im all ears!

Yep! Lived with it for years but only had it officially diagnosed just over two years ago. Some days it's okay and I don't notice it, other days it can be through the roof and the smallest thing will stress me out. It's really depends how life is going at the time for me.

Hefty Hideaway

Not personally affected but my teenage daughter has crippling social anxiety.

I’ll be keeping an eye on the thread if anyone has any coping strategies or words of wisdom.

I always try and find a positive in everything these days, regardless of how negative it really is! Amazing that you are open about it! Go you!

Amazing that she has spoken to you, im a big talker ( learnt to be )

I find opening up and explaining my train of thought to those around me helps, they often laugh, but it does me the world of good to know im not alone with it all.

Ive a new training course starting thursday. Two days a week for the next 5 weeks.

Ive managed to control my thoughts and worrys regarding it, but there is always the basic- what will the other people be like? What should i wear? Will i fit in?

I will however turn up and smile and be me, but before hand i will be a bag of nerves.

I can’t message you for 18 months. We have filtered each other.

Temporarily removed mine.

I think life experience helps,

Its always easy when you can relate a situation to somthing else in your life!

I too was only diagnosed 2years ago, but at least now I feel I have an explanation as to why my lows are so low. Makes it easier to deal with.

Nothing but sympathy from me...we had a terrible time with my daughter last year...lost a load of weight due to constant tummy upsets and vomiting...umpteen trips to the GP and then appointments at The Sick Kids ruled out any physical cause. All due to anxiety.

Slightly better now thanks to lots of talking and reassurance. We were waiting over 9 months for a referral to CAMHS.

I never used to be but my mum was diagnosed a year before me and saw the signs, she kicked me (not literally ) in to talking about it so now when we are having a crappy day we talk to eachother. It's helped massively because we both understand what it's like. I don't see it as something to hide, it's not always easy but if I'm open about it then people understand why little things might get to me more.

Glad to hear it’s a little better. It’s difficult being a parent sometimes!

We have been through CAMHS - had one appointment then moved districts (for the better - she went from a massive comp school which she hated to a small art focused Studio school) and didn’t qualify for referral here.

I’d love a magic confidence spell.

Thats amazing that you two have that to work on toghether, anxiety is my little pal now, always there on my shoulder, but i try to just keep straight and happy, talking and laughing off the neg thoughts. Doesnt always go to plan, and i have plenty of bad days, but its somthing ive excepted i will just have to deal with day by day.

"What's the difference between anxiety and depression?"

I would say anxiety is over worrying about things and might be more situational.

Depression is more feeling hopeless and that there is no point to anything.

Anxiety could lead to depression if you start to isolate yourself.

I would say my descent into a major clinical depression started with acute anxiety then panic attacks then depression.

I can still get low moods where I don't want to do anything and anxiety which is characterised by constant worry and racing thoughts. The low moods can just occur but the anxiety is always started by something.

Thank you, that's really helpful. I know I can Google but I find real people who have experienced things much more insightful, if that makes sense. X
