Perfect beef joint

How do you cook yours

I’m crap at doing beef

Some say heat oil in oven then drop in the beef 20 mins per pound plus 20 mins

Some wrap it in foil and some cook in a bag

Come on girls what’s the best way to make my dinner perfect today

20 mins per Pound + 20 sounds right, I cook mine in a casserole dish with a glass or two of red wine

I rarely roast a beef joint, they're usually tough. I normally cook it on the hob in stock or wine the timing varies according to the cut.

I sear the beef in a hot pan before putting it in the oven.

Similar to the one above

Plus I make tin foil balls to sit it on in the casserole dish

Then when it’s done wrap it in tin foil and let the meat rest

Pre heat oven to 240 °

Rub garlic salt into it then put in a tray with oil and vegetables. Cook for an hour and 30 mins on 200°. Will come out perfect with pink in middle .

Love Wellingtons boot recipie. Don't cook longer as it gets drier. So not good when you are expecting guests. Ours arrived late and we had dry beef. They all moaned.....

Silverside is quite a tough cut. I've never successfully cooked one that's come out well. I'm sure i read somewhere it should be cooked low and slow.

Normally k put it on foil wrapped around the ends to stop them drying but if there is a little fat on the top I leave that exposed to crisp up

Don't forget to rest it for 20 mins once you get it out of the oven. That's the most important bit and let it get to room temperature before cooking.

Quickly pan fry on high heat till it's sealed and got some colour. Then add some roughly chopped onions and carrots, a pint of stock and in a medium oven till it's cooked

Six oxos in Half a pint of hot water stick in slow cooker on high the night before give it about 12 hours in the oxo gravy comes out like butter melt in the mouth i also do full chicken in slow cooker over night then crisp it up in a red hot oven for forty minutes

Most joints are a similar size , unless it’s a small one.

I have never cooked a bad joint of silverside because I use this method and its perfect every time.

We were having chicken but I went out and bought some beef off the back of this thread, it should be ready in about an hour and a half

Roll in lots of salt and pepper

Sear the outside in a very hot frying pan

Oven gas 5 for 20mins per 500g

Rest for at least 20 min
