Week 2

So let's have some light heartedness

So who is your favourite, who will be in the dance off and who's going home?

So I'm loving Hrvy and I find Bill very entertaining. I think Jaqui and Ranvir will be in the dance off, with Jaqui going home

Well Barry (or was it Carole??), having been passively watching Strictly since the heady days of Erin Boag & the lovely Nat.....I'm am very wary of predicting anyone's exit. Having said that, I have to say, having seen Jaqui Smith in 'action' Ann Widdicombe has gone up in my estimation - if there is any justice, Ms Smith will not be re-elected.

p.s. nice pics

Me too. I think Caroline will do very well, she's always wanted to dance and I think she will blossom. Claudia has no sense of style, she could look far better

I quite liked Claudia's dress last night, compared to some of the things she's worn it wasn't too bad.

I like HRVY, Caroline and Bill. I think Jacqui will be out tonight. I do feel sorry for Anton though, he always seems to get the bad choice.

Everyone has their favourites on Strictly & that's a big part of it's appeal as well all know. Some of mine are gone; Aliona & Nat being just two of the 'old' female pros. Of the current batch Nadiya Bychkova & Oti are so very attractive (& I'd enjoy playing with Anto, ahem... yes of course I meant golf )... but my all-time favourite person on the show has to be the genius that is Vicky Gill.

I love her enthusiasm and how glamorous she makes the Celebs & Pros look, the dress Motsi wore on Saturday night looks great on her and I'm sure it was one of Vicki's creations.

Oh & yeah... given the chance(never happen sadly), I most certainly would

This is the first year I've not watched Strictly launch show: I didn't even watch the live show: can't get into it. I watch it on catch up and haven't bothered with the Sunday result show.

I predicted Jacqui would go followed by the American, it'll be the black dj and the Asian woman next. The smiley boxer will be in the dance off but the judges will save her for as long as possible.

From what I've seen my favourite is Bill Bailey and the most annoying Caroline Quentin! Oti is a genius! She choreographs to her partner's strenghts, showing them off. Other dancers like Jeanette use their partner as a prop to show themselves off.

It just seems lacklustre. Add to that no Bruno and Craig has morphed into Mr Nice...nah: not feeling Strictly 2020.

Do you mean Clara , Ranvir and Nicola?

I hope not as the first two I think are great, especially Ranvir. I thought I was going to like Nicola being in it but she is getting on my nerves so I don't mind if she goes

Jamie is my close my eyes I don't want to watch person so he can go anytime too.

I loved Jason, Ok until that point he wasn't the greatest dancer but his smile was infectious and lots of people have improved heaps from 3 weeks onwards in the past. The choice of music and the choreography didn't help matters for him last night which I think sometimes is the intention of the show, some of them get rubbish music that doesn't go with the dance which means they have no chance

I agree Craig has gone soft.

What I do like though is the non screaming from the audience every time someone lifted a finger, it was lovely watching the two dancers when the family of musicians were playing as no one was screaming and you could hear the music too....so next year if this is all over and they let the audience back in, they should supply gaffer tape for their gobs !!

Ruggers: I couldn't even be bothered to know their names but yes. Nicola I just want to slap: she's annoying.

Ranvir was beautiful to watch, and one of the few dances with appropriate music.

I love Strictly, and the US version DWTS. Dave and I cuddle up for a girly evening to watch it

I was going to mention this the other day, but has anyone noticed how awkward Nichola seems to be with Katya? The other couples always seem to be very touchy-feely, but when they do the upstairs interview bit, Nichola always stands in front of Katya, not touching her at all whilst Katya only puts her hands on her shoulders - no cuddling (like the others) at all. And they haven't yet done any of the close-up "romantic" dances yet either. I'm not implying anything at all, but they seem an awkward pair. As for Caroline and Johannes - what a waste of Johannes!

Yes, Bruno is a judge this year. He seems to be a lot louder here than he does on Strictly, if that's at all possible for him Strangely, my cats only pay attention to the one UHD 4k tv I have - maybe that's the only one that their eyes can see properly? I had to ban them all from watching it when Lobengula decided to launch himself at a bird on-screen and nearly knocked the tv over. Cute, but not bright

And they haven't yet done any of the close-up "romantic" dances yet either. I'm not implying anything at all, but they seem an awkward pair. As for Caroline and Johannes - what a waste of Johannes!

I have noticed some awkwardness too...is Bruno judging the US version? Aaw I do like Caroline, I would have paired her with Anton Do your cats watch tv? Strangely, Molly doesn't watch anything with cats but she does enjoy nature programs

Cute, but not bright "

Oh dear!! yes Bruno is a bit OTT

Also, don't get me started on Oti and Bill! He seems a lovely and talented guy, but he's just too old for Oti's exuberant style. He keeps up, but that's about it. That cowboy dance they did (pasa doble I think) was fantastic, but when Oti snapped her moves, Bill just kind of "bent" his moves. I think he would have been better with Luba, and HRVY with Oti.

There are some mis matches, I think the producers do it on purpose. Some dancers are more popular than others, which sometimes determines who stays and who goes

Yeah, makes for better viewing I guess. I still think Sir Anton DuBeke should be a judge - he looks a bit out of place sometimes in the pro dances.

Was just discussing that

Not half as stiff as some of the amateurs

I think because he has had a career, he doesn't need this as a platform

Plus, he seems to have a playful approach which must assist in how relaxed his movements seem to be compared to others

Well...just watched this on catch up and have to say I was wrong about Anton: I'm not a fan of his, but I thought he was spot on as a judge!

I've not been able to get into Strictly this year for some reason, but what can I say: loved every dance. Bill is still my favourite: is there any style this man can't do? A...ma...zing!!!

I noticed something: none of the celebrities seem desperate. They all appear to be having fun.

Think I'll be watching live next week!

Yes, I thought Anton was good, thought he might be a bit lenient but he gave constructive advise. I think they're a nice group, this year and well done to all for putting on a good show, the logistics can't be easy. Glad you enjoyed it

Yep, she is a fun, bubbly, gorgeous young woman who is a great dancer and apparently that really rubs people up the young way I assume Max probably didn't get votes because of the swearing, his dance was a bit boring but by far not the worst.

Imo JJ and Caroline should have been in the dance off, with JJ leaving. I suppose he got the patriotic vote by wearing his uniform and Caroline maybe popular with the older demographic?

Masie and HRVY are natural dancers, they can both wiggle and spin well but have they actually improved since week 1? I can't really see it. I would agree with Shirley (who, like me has a soft spot for Max), so now we can't really see his continued improvement. Masie will just give us more of the same next week... Zzzzz

Although Bill is very good and entertaining, until this week, he reminded me of a well oiled wind-up toy... Fast and mechanical. His dance tonight was a bit more fluid, so a great improvement for me...

Ranvir is a bit hit and miss so I do hope she improves her odds.

I think Johannes is too soft on Caroline... The kind of reputation that Oti and Katya has on their celebs from previous years, I think Johannes needs crack the whip... It is Strictly after all...!

Haha I agree... He was part of a boyband? So being easy on the eye is probably the only quality he started his Strictly journey with... But I enjoyed his Homer Simpson... He looked like he truly enjoyed himself!

"Oh my goodness... lots of middleaged women having a bitch about Maisie on social media.

She's only 19. Women who are twice or three times her age who think that their behaviour is suitable are pathetic.

Aaw..what were they saying?"

If you have Facebook there's absolutely tonnes of comments on Max & Dianne's goodbye post.

I like Masie but I'm rooting for Bill. Usually the blokes his age on it are cringe but he makes me smile

"Masie and HRVY are natural dancers, they can both wiggle and spin well but have they actually improved since week 1?

It is Strictly after all...!"

I'm wondering how Caroline will fair in a jive tbh..

It's always sad to see people leave but Max was definitely the weaker in the DO. I take my hat off to all of them for the sacrifices they have made in order to put the show on for us. It's so lovely to escape from our horrible reality at the moment. Well done to Anton for his fair judging and all the crew behind the scenes too. I can't pick a favourite yet!

TBH I'm sooooo conscious about getting older and slower so have stepped up my diet and exercise and I feel more energetic.

I feel Caroline needs a fire up her arse as she's too placid for the faster dances... Jive is energetic so I'm hoping she ups her game...

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I am so grateful that they have made Strictly as close to the old normality as possible. It gives me a sense of comfort and reassurance. (That and Bake Off - what a commitment people made.)

However, has Craig's engagement and COVID made him a little soppy? He's being nicer to people and that's a little unnerving.

I'm fully Team Bill Bailey for this series.

Yes, me too I thought it may lack something, but it really doesn't and we love watching it. Still a way to go yet and I'm surprised how they are all improving each week. So it could be anyones trophy at the moment and love Bill!

In The Hills

It's given me a taste of some normality in the run up to Christmas. So glad they found a way to do it

If you haven't seen Joe Tracini look him up. He's given me a lot of unexpected joy with his dance renditions.

I'm sure you know this, but Craig is a pantomime baddy (quite literally!) - I've seen him doing interviews and he comes across as a genuine sweetheart. But you're right, he's letting his "strictly persona" slip a bit this year. Loving Sir Anton's new role as a judge. Serious question though, is he Bruce Forsyth's secret love child?
