I wouldn;t say that many have stepped up there game. Look at how many have been cancelled, Sonisphere been the biggest but a lot of smaller festivals have gone, a couple at the last minute leaving people out of pocket. Hop Farm were giving tickets away, others are doing deals. A wet festival season always impacts on the following years sales, combined with the cancellations and the economy I think this is a turning point as the market is saturated now.

For the first year in many years I'm not doing one this year. Next I will look at Europe as even including flights they can offer much better value.

I go to loads of festivals and concerts, i think the problem is the price of going, not just the ticket price but the cost of staying for the weekend, you can easy spend £30+ a day on foods and drink and if your there for 4 or 5 days like you can be with some festivals thats a lot of money, plus money of anything else you may want like T shirts etc plus price of getting there ands back and £180+ for your ticket/camping people just cant afford to go a few in the same year so they are having to pick one and the others are suffering

Amen! European festivals arethe way forward. Or small boutique ones. Sonisphere is a bummer.

Hello all,

looking forward to Cropredy again; we've been pretty lucky with the weather past years. I have to hope that there is not much left up there after this June and July?

I earn a living from festivals and do about 30 in a season, we stick to the smaller or boutique festivals , and they seem to be flourishing,so maybe its just the bigger more commercial ones that are suffering, i am a bit sick of mud already though! x

Glastonbury was my first festival last year and what a mud fest it was didnt help with us having to que for 5 hours to get in obviously we picked the wrong gate so we ended up with a 30 minute walk down to everywhere and in the mud that often turned into an hour walk i loved it tho even at my age and i never spent that much while i was in there we were quite self sufficient for food and deffo drink lol

I really fancy Beacons in Skipton and will probably head down to End of the Road or Greenman. ATP in Minehead in December too, can't wait to see who Shellac choose to play

I went to Download. Was an amazing line-up this year an a good atmosphere. Was just a shame about the shitty weather really. It's the worse i've seen it and even then the ground was nowhere near as bad as it is on a normal year at Leeds.
