There are various reasons why, to take a break...stop the inbox from overflowing, maybe others will add other reasons  |

I think sometimes people are just busy and don't feel that they want to check-in so they hide their profiles rather than have unanswered messages etc.
Also sometimes things come up in their life that means they need a break, but they don't want to leave.
It could be considered a way of saving people's time, if they know they are not going to be responding to messages, or active on the site they might as well hide their profile if they want. |

I've noticed it with forumites as well. One minute you see them and the next you can't then I can see them back again the next day or a couple or hours later.
What's all that about lol |

Again, it's probably because they don't want to be swamped with messages, especially if they've indicated in a post that they like something - almost guaranteed that loads of blokes will send them 'offers'...  |

Anyway, OP, it's not "User has hidden their profile" you should be worried about...
....it's "You can't view this profile" that's the killer - because 9 times out of 10 that means you've been blocked by them!  |

I hide ours when my special time of the month is due. This is because I still want to read the forum but I don't really want to receive messages or get into conversations with friends when I'm feeling hormonal and crabby.

It’s common knowledge that Forum men use it as a form of reverse physiology. They believe that women will think ‘oh this guy must be popular if he’s hiding’ in the hope of more engagement in the treads they post on. |

I've just come out of hiding for a few days. First time we've done that and been on here a year. Just feeling like I needed to take a break for a bit but still wanted to chat to friends so hiding for a few days seemed the best way.

I’m hiding mine regularly at the moment. I’m not meeting and often just browsing the forums, so it just cuts down with messages being received.
Just as others have already said, nothing particularly weird or underhand about it.  |

Im not hidden but I have no profile. Within seconds of signing up there was a queue of people asking to meet for a fuck without even knowing if I was really man woman or beast. I would hide the profile but having nothing on it amounts to about the same |

If you’re just chatting on the forums, I don’t see the need to have your profile open for everyone to see.
I can understand that some crave the attention and want photos fabbed but some just aren’t bothered about things like that.

Because we can!! Lol! Like most of the ladies on here sometimes it just gets too much! I quite often have a breather and a break from the messages by hiding my profile! Sometimes life gets busy and Fab has to take a back seat! No biggie....just the way I feel at the time! |

So many reasons, I was ill at one point so wasn't meeting, sometimes someone has annoyed me so I hide before I get put on the naughty step. I'm away with the kids for a weekend. Sometimes I just can't be fucked with another are you free tonight or Skype message. Sometimes I'm a hormonal mess and I know one message saying I'm an ugly minger will tip me over the edge. |

I hide when I can't be bothered to chat and to stop the never ending messages. I must admit that if I receive a message or wink from a hidden profile, I will completely ignore them. |
