La la land

Not a specific food, as a woman with raging PMT chocolate is the only answer.

But what is your favourite comfort meal? Which ones make you feel all snuggled up or brings back found memories?

Worcester

I find a beef stew with dumplings a great comfort food, especially when you come in from a tough day and it’s been simmering away in the slow cooker and the smell hits you.

Quick comfort food is a fish finger sandwich, makes me feel like a kid again.

"I dont eat when stressed"

Not necessarily when stressed just a meal that is comforting or brings back happy memories. One of mine is eating tongue sandwiches with my grandad

York

Bangers, mash, beans with a bit of gravy for food measure.

Butter and milk in the mash and it has to be silky smooth.....

Sorry to be slightly off subject, but can you leave dumplings in the slow cooker all day?

Thank you!

I love to come home to stuff in the slow cooker but never thought dumplings would survive.

Love the forums for all sorts of reasons

I don't have a comfort food meal, I actually don't properly understand the concept. If I'm very, very hungry I enjoy my food a lot and there's certain things like a really good chocolate fondant or chocolate cheesecake whose texture and feel in my mouth I enjoy but I don't find it comforting as such. If I'm upset or worried I don't really enjoy food as much.

Chips...reminds me of when mum and dad had been out and I was looking after my younger brothers. They used to bring chips home and we ate them while watching Saturday night at the Mill.

BRIDPORT

If I‘be been under the weather my appetite isn’t usually great but when I’m on the recovery and can feel things are picking up there’s nothing like a big steaming plate of bangers and mash with onion gravy, the feeling of being totally stuffed and slumping back in the chair with an Aaaaaaah.

Little cubed potatoes, roasted with chorizo and a poached egg on top. Simple and very comforting especially after a long Autumn walk

In a ball gown because that's how we roll in N. Devon

Chicken noodle soup. I love it. Preferably made by my best friend's mum. Before we moved across the country, whenever I was ill she would pop round with a vat of it. She would do it now but she doesn't like driving distance any more.

My mum's lamb and pearl barley stew used to be my favourite.

You get them in chip shops so they're like corned beef hash rolled up into a ball and coated with breadcrumbs and fried, they are amazing

Oh they sound it xx Iv never seen them , we get what’s called a fish cake that’s doesn’t have fish in oddly, it’s potatoe with some type of herb in a ball, then covered in batter, sounds pretty similar without the corned beef.

this is what we do but they will survive the slow cooker. I have also baked them a bit before adding them to help firm them up and keep some shape.
