posting in a forum thread? I know this has been done before so bear with me, please. I am curious about whether certain wordings in the title, the way a thread is going or being hijacked or simply the topic are enough to not engage with it.
I know I avoid some threads if I dont like the sound of it, for example if it sounds a bit too basic and rough and unsubtle, I tend to shy away.
What puts you off, folks? |

Mostly the idiots and keyboard warriors, everyone has an opinion which is cool and if they didn't the forums would be pointless but people nowadays go straight for the jugular , they dont ask questions , just attack, like yday a guy asked if anyone pleasured themselves outdoors or in a public place , now it was so obvious he mean like a toilet or changing room but it went from that to him saying he did it in a park and boooom straight away he was a peado, no one asked what he meant ?!
He might of liked country parks at 2am but no he obviously meant a play park at lunch time , people are just to quick to abuse others so I'd say that puts some off but lucky I have thick skin . |

Im with you on that - sometimes it can feel as if somebody is deliberately being misunderstood or misquoted, and that can be a tad annoying. |

Definately football.....haven't a Scooby's about it at all....
Politics are an occasional post from me, I'm more of a fun poster rather than serious, but I do have opinions and will occasionally post them whilst doing my damndest to respect other posters - having said that, I've been told to only post on "fluff" threads as I might have a chance of knowing what I'm talking about and the nasty bitch in me loves getting my teeth into that sort of a person for a good old "exchange of _iews"
Threads that in my opinion (I don't do humble ) have gone off track from the OP....sometimes I'll try to get back to what was originally asked, sometimes I'll try to inject a bit of humour if it seems the trolls have been trip-trip-tripping a bit too much
And finally..........sometimes I just can't resist getting the popcorn n tin hat out and seeing what happens (though I do hate unfairness, and will usually do one of the above to try and get back on track) |

Love ins, especially where its a couple havinga chat, just talk on the phone
Sometimes I have to bite my tongue as I don't want to appear as if I am harranging an account by posting against them all the time

What prevents me is firstly titles, if from the title I know I'm not going to be interested then I don't bother, an example now would be anyone putting fifty shades of ..... And then finishing it with whatever. I'm bored of those now.
I don't tend to join in on the fuck, snog, abuse the one above, below, sideways etc, again I'm bored, I do sometimes though, if there is little choice elsewhere.
Or if a subject is political or even something that I have an opinion on but I know I couldn't do my post justice without writing an extremely lengthy post. I'm usually on my blackberry, without my glasses on, and my fingers ache typing all the time |

I tied to start a thread about monty python quotes once and nobody posted, still to this day dont know if people werent interested in the subject or if they just didnt look at all cos of the double entendre title, either way it was a big flop. |

Good point, I have experienced that in the past and I am sure others have... you put up a thread and somehow nobody replies. I think its about the timing sometimes, it may have been a time when the people who usually would post might be at lunch/ dinner or maybe there is something on TV... and by the time they get back the thread has gone down the list and gets forgotten...

I don't often post now, but am put off by some titles. Sports ones don't do it for me. Politics sometimes gets a bit too 'full on' and descends into an argument, often lacking reasoning. Some posters delight in taking threads way off track or deliberately misunderstanding the OP or an earlier poster - I avoid those because I don't want to 'feed' them any more attention. I quite like silly ones, the occasional 'would you' one if I'm bored and can't find anything else appealing (they can be good fun and I have actually met some damn fun people from them, so would never say to get rid of them)
Generally, though, the forums can be a fun place to while away some free time |

I can find fun and amusement in most things
That said, I do have a serious / sensible side too and it does come out on occasion.
I tend to avoid political / religious threads.
That isn't to say I don't have an opinion on the subject, but I certainly don't have the answers or solutions that people often seek in such threads and debating in that circumstance is more than likely going to result in people having heated exchanges.

I read nearly every forum post apart from the 'fuck, snog, avoid' ones. I don't post on sport posts as I know naff all about sport. I may post on 'what's wrong with my profile' posts if they have potential, and I really try to avoid political posts as they usually end up with certain posters having a pissing contest and great big replies that take up half my screen.
