Okay, so i’m sat here listening to Pillow Queens new album for about the 20th time this week & its closing track “Donaghmede” is absolutely brilliant. Got me thinking, what are the best closing tracks on any album?

Donaghmede - Im Waiting, Pillow Queens

Street Spirit (Fade Out) - The Bends, Radiohead

505 - Favourite Worst Nightmare, Arctic Monkeys

A Certain Romance - Whatevwr People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not, Acrtic Monkeys

HiiiPower - Section.80, Kendrick Lamar

Purple Rain - Purple Rain, Prince

What else have we got?!

"A day in the life- sgt peppers "

Nearly picked it myself, think it's one of the most overrated albums ever, but that's an amazing song for the time, and a perfect close to what the album was supposed to be.

I agree, the white album and Abbey Road are far better!

I think it’s just how pure it is at it’s core for me. I’m not a fan of the old John Lewis reworks but Elbow did a wonderful version

"Golden Slumbers is one of the most divine tracks ever penned."

Do you know how McCartney wrote that?

He can't read music, and when his sister bought a new piano, she asked him to play it and see if it needed tuning.

So he sat there with an old Music Hall song (Cradle Song) on the sheet music.

The talented bastard then just wrote a song to those words. On the spot, and bam! he's written Golden Slumbers.

Definitely.

Pepper was my first Beatles album (borrowed) and I thought "This ain't for me" then I got those two in my teens and I was away.

I would pick With the Beatles as no.1, but it's close with White Album and Abbey Road.

Elbow's cover is good, but because it doesn't go into carry that weight, it leaves me a bit discombobulated

Some good calls here.

Abbey Rd is definitely better than Sgt Pepper.

I think the White album would have been a brilliant single album rather than a double. But that's just my opinion.

I'll throw in Jungleland _ Springsteen from Born to Run.

Always thought that too. It's true of most double albums, but White Album could've been incredible.

Oi! That's my number one!

I'm in agreement with the Jungleland at the end of Born to Run.

However, personally would also like to offer up Scattered Black and Whites by Elbow at the end of Asleep in the Back.

Worthing

Night Prowler by AC/DC is one of their 'slower' ones. It's the last song on Highway to Hell.
