Nearly finished Talking with Psychopaths & Savages, a journey into the evil mind
Nighttime I’m currently falling asleep with my audio book Sherlock Holmes (Arthur Conan Doyle) read by Stephen Fry playing in the background.
I prefer a good thriller, mystery with lots of twists, historical fact/fiction, biographies or books that analyse why people do what they do |

I've started reading The Rules of Contagion, which isn't about Covid but was the most well timed book ever. Brain is on overload from other stuff at the moment so it's not going far. Will return.
I enjoy thrillers with strong central characters, generally. Read a lot of non fiction these days. |

Patrick Suskind The Pigeon. Tiny book but fabulously written about a man having a sudden life crisis. I think I loved it. Also read Perfume of his which was a bit more flowery and long and a bit ridiculous but I read it. |

I find his voice relaxing, not sure he’d motivate me to do the housework, think I’ll stick to home alone singing and dancing to tunes for that task |

Right now I'm rereading The Historian which is probably in my top five favourite books of all time. I've just ordered The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix after a few friends have raved about it, so I'm hoping it's here soon so I can read it whilst drinking from my cauldron. |

I'm reading Piranesi by Susanna Clarke, she's the author of Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell but this is a very different kind of book.
I largely read fiction and generally SF, fantasy, crime and historical fiction. I've always got a book on the go and my kindle goes everywhere with me. |

'Get Happy' a Judy Garland biography and 'Soviet Milk' by Nora Ikstena (a Latvian author).
I read a mixture of history, biography/memoir, fiction. My favourite type of book mixes it all up and is not one thing or another. Generally I'm not too bothered about the subject matter as long as the way it is written holds my interest. |

Still on Steve Backshalls book "expedition". Lots of jungle hopping and fast water kayaking. Not much of a fiction reader as Im more an explorer of the real natural world and the mind. Im a guzzler of information about what makes us and nature tick. |

I recommend Val Mcdermid who is a great thriller writer. Mermaid Singing is the first of the Tony Hill series or which 'Wire in the Blood' is part two.
My favourite by her is A Place of Execution though. A stand alone and a great great read. |

"Off the back off a typo on another thread.
What book are you reading at the moment? What would your recommendations be? Who’s your favourite author and why?
Talk all things books to me please
"
Reading two books at the moment. “In black and white” by Alexandra Wilson and “The king without a kingdom” by Maurice Druon. The last book is the seventh and last book in the accursed kings series. The first six books were truly gripping. But the last book is relatively weak. Struggling to finish it and move it.
Not sure I have a favourite author, more some authors creat individual works of genius, or if truly gifted, than than one. Thanks for the question. Love books too! |

"The birth of heavy metal by Michael Todd and Michael Anderle"
Oh how is this? I'd be interested.
Not reading much now other than stuff related to my impending thesis. Normally tend towards thrillers but lately a lot of non fiction
Last book I read was Gideon's Spies by Gordon Thomas. Bit of a weighty tome, doesn't lend to page turning. Hence took me the better part of a few months but got some fascinating tidbits throughout. It's essentially an oral history of Mossad |

The last book I finished was "The fault in our Stars". It absolutely destroyed me, I was an emotional wreck for weeks after. Now looking back I love this book, the celebration of love between two people *no spoilers. |
