Does the pain feel muscular and is your back in spasm? |

"Every time I move it twitches I'm sure if I put a whole bottle of voltarol on it it it will work wonders "
When you say twitches is that a pain or a girding of your loins? |

Try some heat on it and then try to move it gently, just small movements such as cat/cow (yoga, Google if u don't know).
Short walk if bearable also helps me. If its still really bad after a couple of days then consider osteopath etc |

Keep moving around and try and rub on some ibuprofen gel or similar. I appreciate the area may be difficult to reach.
Also heat may improve it if it's muscular pain so sit with a hot water bottle or wheat bag on the area for a short while at a time in between walking around. |

Google stretches for QL muscle, and do them
The QL is the support muscle in the back that attaches to the spine, and is usually goes tight after a previous injury. |

Oh dear poor you mr Simon!!!!
Now this sounds total bollox but try walking backwards for ten minutes around your gaff.
When mine goes it helps and it’s the only way I can move.

Most likely slept awkwardly
I have a broken vertebrae in two places, do the actual bone is moving forwards slowly and pinching my spinal column, this is not an issue much, until I start walking..
Walking gives me severe pain in my hips and legs and stops me walking very far |

Anti Inflams like Brufen are absolutely fine for short periods; protect your gut with lansoprazole or ranitidine before a meal and then take brufen after the meal.
A brufen paracetamol mix is a good bet.
Don't take brufen if you have had or do have a stomach ulcer, or have a B12 deficiency
Speak to a pharmacist if you are concerned they are very really very clued up.
Then move; movement is medicine.
Then have a think about why it happened; is your bed too soft, have you got too many/ not enough pillow? Did you over do it lifting the day before; think about posture at work, at a desk etc.
The world is a bit small for me, so back pain and spasms used to be a huge issue for me.
I hope you get better soon.

Try not to stay still
Ibuprofen. Dose up. Once you make a dent in it with painkillers try some gentle back stretches. Cat stretch. Child pose. Google lower back yoga stretches but really really gentle movements. Keep doing them. Don’t ice or heat until you know what’s wrong but a warm bath with Epsom salts is a good idea.
Call a physio on Monday. Good luck.
