"I like the occasional Wimpy for nostalgia. Reminds me of my childhood. Seems you have to be in the South East to enjoy one these days mainly. I discovered South End-on-Sea has two "
We do. 1 of them won Wimpy of the year a couple of years ago! I can't imagine there were many competitors. |

I remember once eating in a wimpy at the services once. I was so excited because they disappeared long ago in the Midlands. But them I realised it wasn't the same. It was all in paper wrap, no proper plates, knifes and folks. It just wasn't the same. |

It used to be a treat when I was a kid, weird when you think of it, a burger place with knives and forks and waitress service. I went to one a couple of years ago in Huddersfield, not a bad burger but I won't rush back. |

We have one in our small town, still real plates and cutlery, table service. And special sauce! Just had McDonalds come to town though so sadly I think the Wimpy's days will be numbered |

Don’t be too sure Maldonado in Essex has a Dominos, McDonalds, Numerous Chippies & Indian & Chinese Restaurants.
The Wimpy in the High St has so far weathered the storm for decades
My memories are of when a kid, We had a caravan just outside Bognor Regis & would go there a good few times during the season. Straight in the MK3 Cortina on a Friday after school & straight into town for burger, chips & a brown derby or knickerbocker glory for dessert

I haven't had one for years but there's one in Felixstowe where I'm from. My sister used to take me quite often because she fancied the man that worked there
I'm surprised they've lasted as long as they have tbh. |

I don't know, people here are always moaning wimpy is too expensive. We don't have many big names here. Folk are still overjoyed we got a wee Subway last year haha! Queues for McD were horrendous when it opened last week, they had to employ a traffic marshall. Sad sad times. I hope the wimpy hangs on in there as you say |

I must admit Wimpy is a little pricy. It was great as a little bit of nostalgia on holiday and I will have to go into the next one I see on my travels. But if I had one near where I live I probably wouldn't go a lot. The food was nice but not all that, especially for the price. I guess I should have stuck to my rose tinted childhood glasses. But I hope the remaining branches still hold a place on the High Street because there just isn't anywhere like Wimpy remaining. I know that sounds hypocritical. |
