I have a very wicked looking cat o nine tails which I have never dared use on anyone. I watched a lady at a club use it on her husband and it scared me to death. Needless to say, he loved it. Actually got hard as she raised welts on his back and arse. I just don't get it myself. |

My own view is that any decent top should be acquainted with all the impact skills. Being able to handle a whip properly is one of those and a demanding skill that requires practice and dedication but is worth it. However, if you know how to do so it is possible to fake proper use of a whip as the bottom generally has their back to you.
Bottoms and subs can be divided into those that like thud or those who like sting. Whips work well with the latter. That being said whips can be used sensually and depending on the make for impact. I have two good paracord whips a 3ft snake whip from Alpha whips and a 5ft snake whip from Edgeplay. Also I have couple of cheap and nasty leather whips which are good as starter whips. But because pgood leather whips start at £250 I hope one year I will be on Santa's nice list. |

What you are actually discussing is the use of single tails and yes they are very dangerous if used wrongly they take a great deal of practice, there used to be a group who met up on Clifton Downs in Bristol and it is a sport, but you will easily break the skin if you don’t know what you are doing, worse still easily spread droplets of blood in the atmosphere, you have to remember that when the whip ‘cracks’ that’s because the tip has reached the speed of sound. |

Daz at edge play makes some nice one but I do find the Paracord ones can loses there tightness over time. |

Thanks OB I will bear it mind about paracord whips. I would love a good leather one but can't justify the cost at the moment. |
