Go with your instinct.

btw - whilst I agree at least a text lets you know - I think it's the lazy/easy cop out way to cancel/back-out.

Sometimes pride plays tricks on us and has us making excuses for the other person/people. We 'want' to believe (rather than actually believe) as belief is easier than the alternative thought.

Be honest with yourself... what do you really think you should do?

little house on the praire

Ive cancelled on people in the past, sometimes ive cancelled on a guy more than once before we have met and all for genuine reasons.

This guy could be feeding you bull you will have to go with your instinct. But because he has had a bereavement (if he has) doesnt mean he shouldnt go on line if he wishes

We met a couple from another site and it went well so we arranged to meet again. A date was set some six weeks in advance as they were going to spain for a month on holidays. The month passed so we messaged them ... no reply. A further week passed so we messaged them ... no reply. We had booked a hotel in the midlands and I had not taking any bookings for my business, plus paul had turned down saturday work. The day before the pre arranged meet we sent a final message ... they simply replied that they had stayed on longer in spain, had only been back three days and didn't feel up to it ... we had to pay for the hotel, lost about £200 in bookings for me not to mention a fortune on my hair and paul a saturday wage ..... pleased I was not!!!!

He could well be telling the truth but he's still in the directing room? hes obviously traumatised with bereavement at the moment

My take on this is that, unless you know the person well, it may not be possible to appreciate how he deals with bereavement at times like this.

He may not be that close to his nan, which would explain his behaviour re: chatroom/MSN etc...

However, he may feel duty bound to be with his parents to support them. Hence the need to be with his folks.

Everyone has their reasons for cancelling, some true and some fake.

I was at my Grans funeral this morning and althought I don't feel like playing at all tonight, I'm piss bored and thought I'd come on here and have a mooch around and see if I could cheer myself up. I even cancelled a meet tomorrow night (at the start of the week) as I didn't want to let them down if I wasn't feeling up to it.

That said, its a hell of an easy excuse to use as they know the other person can't really say 'no you didn't have a bereavement'

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

I'd like to put my vote in the pool that says a couple of hours in the chatroom is not unreasonable as it's a significantly smaller investment than a meet - plus you can duck out for 20 mins here and there, and leave when it suits.

However, if I cancelled twice on anyone, I wouldn't EXPECT a third chance - and would certainly be cautious about pushing for a third meeting.

I agree with this poster. The 'mask' that can be worn when communicating via your comp can offer a short escape from the pain of loss.

Don't make any arrangments with him tho ...cos twice is enough for strangers.
