Digging out my slow cooker is a sure sign that leaving for work on dark mornings and coming home in the dark is upon us.
Love walking in at night to that gorgeous smell of a stew filling the house knowing after the dog walk I've not got to start cooking.
Looking for some awesome ideas, did this before and got some cracking recipes
Over to you fabsters, wow me with your awesome go to slow cooker meals |

A few of our favourite slow cooker meals are
- Chinese style bbq pork
- Moroccan spiced beef stew
- Thai beef curry (works with lamb too)
- Ham in cider (cue jokes about meat inside her)
- Beef and beer pot roast
- Honey glazed duck legs |

"I've heard slow cooker lasagne is very good."
Damn straight!
I use half beef, half pork belly (plus veg) and slow cook it in passata until the meat falls apart. Then put it in a lasagne in the usual manner. |

"I can’t do a decent stew either oven, slow cooker or big pot and I love stew "
Try the one I make, it's so simple, just chop up your veg, any veg, I use whatver I have but always add sweet potato. Add it to the pot with beef chunks, 4 oxo and a tin of tomatoes |

I don't have a slow cooker but use a pressure steamer instead for
- potato soup with ham and choriso
- lentil with beef and carrots
- chicken curry
- pea soup with bacon
All of the recipes should be equally good for a slow cooker, but usually I am hungry and can't wait all day |

Fry off a 700g pack of lamb mince to drain all the fat off it, then tip into the slow cooker with 1 big onion (or 2 small) finely diced, 1.5tsp dried mint, 2tsp dried oregano, 2tsp chilli flakes, big dollop redcurrant jelly if you've got some, load of Worcestershire sauce, 3 tins of chopped tomatoes, each tin rinsed with half a tin of water that also gets tipped in.
Leave all day, then half an hour before serving skim off any fat from the surface and tip in 300g of small pasta shapes (I like ditalini). Leave until the pasta is cooked. |

Take the skin off a ham shank and put straight into the slow cooker with 16 oz dried split peas, diced carrots (2 or 3), a big white onion, couple of shallots if you have them, couple of stalks of celery, 3 minced cloves of garlic, a teaspoon of dried thyme, a load of black pepper, a bay leaf, two veggie oxos and enough water to cover.
Cook until peas are cooked and the ham falls off the bone, shred the ham before serving. |

Beef cheek with onion, carrot, celery, chunky diced potatoes, couple of beef Oxo, splash of red wine or stout, good tablespoon of mustard, teaspoon of chilli flakes, couple of handfuls of dried barley, pint of water or more if needed, cook until the beef cheek is tender and all the collagen has melted away to thicken everything up. |

Coco cola ham is lovely too. I recommend soaking the joint in cold water overnight first, then rinsing it to remove all the saltiness.
I've also tried ginger beer, very nice too. |

Does anyone know where I can buy a replacement Crockpot? I have a 6.5l Crockpot, I'm looking for a dual compartment pot so I can either cook smaller quantities, or cook a main meal and a pud at the same time. |

Couple of apples & a large white onion finely sliced, lay yourself some pork chops on top & pour a generous half bottle of cider over, give it a good 6-8 hours on low |

I have a delicious recipe for my slow cooker. It is Ginger Gamon.
Simply place a Gamon joint into a slow cooker. Add 2 cans of ginger beer, 2 large chopped carrots.
2 large chopped white onions, season & cook until the Gamon is tender.
Serve with mash potato and flake the Gamon. The juice it is cooked in is a perfect delicious "gravy"
Enjoy xx |
