Did anybody see what he did for the staff at Q magazine. In 2017 he also offered the royalties from his music to the government to spend on schools and the NHS, they turned it down. What a lovely bloke |

It was a great offer but I guess they didn't want to be seen to be nationalising something.
I'm sure that there has to be away of him maybe putting the profits into a charity business and then donate it from there ?
I'd want it going straight to the good causes not via the treasury anyway, you'd pay a million in and get £4 out |

That's probably why they turned him down, he may have had some kind of ring fence caveat. |

"Top guy . . . And he loves Hull
He does lots for charities & supporting others but doesn't make a song & a dance about it ( see what I did there!!) - never wants the focus on him"

There and to the left a bit |

He certainly is and couldn't agree more about those that quietly go about their charitable work without needing to trumpet it at every opportunity - makes you wonder sometimes which is more important, the charitable act or the publicity and self-promotion.
Another thing he announced at the very start of lockdown was a free gig for NHS workers once it was safe to do so.
A much underrated songwriter too - right from The Housemartins, through Beautiful South and onto his solo work |

"And......."
There are multiple threads deserving this response.....but not this one.
Good for him..literally putting his money where his mouth is. I was reading today about a Asda delivery driver who has received a birthday list honours award for using his own car and time to drive isolated people around and deliver shopping during these difficult times. Whether youre Bill Gates, a well known singer or an 'ordinary' person....we can all do more for others

"And.......
That’s what I thought why don’t you tell us what decent act yous have done recently "
I meant there was no need for the ‘and’ comment, that’s where the eye roll came into it I gather. Can’t fault Paul heaton for doing that |
