I’ve always believed curvy to mean having an hourglass figure (big bum, big breasts with a small waist)
How would you define the word in relation to our bodies? |

Some people will use it as a polite term for 'fat' or instead of saying 'bit overweight'
For me Curvy like other ladies have said is about the shape.. boobs, bum, waist, hips..

Curves for me are open to interpretation.
I can appreciate the nice curves of a man’s biceps or thighs just as much as the curves of a woman’s shoulders and back.
No matter how big or small they are it’s having confidence of them that is super sexy  |

Totally lost on this one on here. I describe myself as curvy, curvy bum, oversized, shapely thighs for my frame, big hips but small waist, small boobs. There's people here who describe themselves as athletic, in my book athletic is like an athlete who's no where near overweight but shotputters are athletes so there you go. |

It’s all about shape (smaller wait & larger hips), you can be slim and curvy as-well as bigger and curvy.
Unfortunately some use as a ‘polite’ way to describe a person of a larger size.
I’d say i’m curvy (my hips are definitely larger and my waist smaller) .... not always been this shape but I definitely prefer a curvy shape on me.

I've got curves... Lovely natural 34Dd and equal hips.. But I've got curvy belly.. I call myself fat.

I had a friend give me grief for using the curvy hashtag as I’m not over a size 16. I explained that I don’t see curvy as a dress size, but a shape. I am curvy, but my interpretation of what makes a woman curvy doesn’t match hers, and that’s absolutely fine. Viv xx |

As far as the OP goes, I use curvy to describe myself because I don't think it's a size thing, more a shape thing. I'm sure it's been said on the thread - you can be a size 8 and curvy or a size 18 and curvy and I think that people are free to label themselves it regardless of size, it's definitely a sort of shape thing. You can generally see on photos what someone's size is and decide for yourself if you think the label is appropriate because, as is quite clear, it's quite subjective. Maybe fab could have more choice. Maybe we could have an unbiased mod assign the category for us on joining. |

So do some with fabulous. I've just picked what I think describes me best. Some may agree, some may not but I have enough pictures to make it pretty unnecessary anyway |

I have a huge ass an boobs. I also have a tummy. I have a waist, its just hidden at the min. Lol. I certainly wouldnt say i was curvy. Id say i was ample |

The Michelin woman is full of curves but I do not think that is what most have in mind when using the word “curvy”.
I am fat but some people call me curvy.
I guess different people use “curvy” when referring to different things. |

Hidden in my rolls is an hourglass figure as I have always had a waist regardless of whether I was a size 12 or size 26/28 that I am now.
I class myself as fabulous, not curvy. But it's to each individual as to how they see themselves. |

The word curvy is far too often used here for fat women who don’t want to describe themselves as overweight. I don’t bother with them. One of my pet hates. |

As my status says. Curvy is a shape not a size. I have boobs. Bum. But a smaller waist that makes me curvy. I have a friend who’s a similar size to me but is straight up and down - she’s not curvy. I also have a friend who is a size 8 and has amazing curves. |

Reading through this there seem to be differing opinions on how 'curvy' should be defined. I am down as curvy because I have curves, but based on what I have read here to some I would be classed as fat (but fab doesn't offer that as an option). Ultimately everyone will have their own definitions and perceptions, and also their own preferences. I generally look at pictures and decide whether I find what I see attractive rather than getting hung up on the words they used to describe themselves.

It's the polite way to say not fat yet not athletic it's well curvy .
In-between .
And we all know there's folk on here who can't handle the FAT word yet you can quite easily chat about tall or black etc etc |

I had this very discussion the other with a female friend... Where does curvy stop and become something else, what exactly does fabulous mean... I have seen women on here with stunning, slim/athletic bodies describe themselves as fabulous, which is a good description of their bodies but it is also used by bbw to describe their bodies too...
It's certainly a discussion that could go on forever and we all have our own ideas as to what is what... |
