...remember you have to carry two breathaliser kits in your car, a warning triangle, and a high-vis vest.

It's the law over there now and the French police are planning on stop-checks on vehicles entering France from the Channel Tunnel.

Bold move by the French, let's hope the govt do the same over here.

And carry a few spare Euros to buy the Gendarmes a 'coffee' as this always worked when I was trucking over there...

I am hoping they would further relax the worming requirement for pets before I go over there in 2014.

Same with turning your satnav off so it doesn't alarm on speed cameras - OK now, but not from November.

And, if you're going to drive to or through many German towns this summer, you'll need an environmental sticker or you'll get an on-the-spot fine of 40 Euros. You can get them on-line from Germany for about 25 Euros. They have ways of making you obey...

if you must wear spex to drive, you must carry a spare pair with you driving in spain or switzerland.

also with hi vis jackets you need one for every occupant of the vehicle

A good money spinner for the French government me thinks. I say we should bring in new rules over here.

How about, all foreign cars (especially Frenchies) get stopped and have to produce the following:

- a genuine Cornish Pasty and if warm have to prove VAT has been paid.

- Stilton cheese portion

- Whisky from Scotland

- Black Pudding

- Medium white sliced Hovis

Any more suggestions appreciated. Failure to produce is instant £100 fine.

"A good money spinner for the French government me thinks."

So very true, put the onus on the public not the police or government

And to think I actually used to enjoy driving trucks on the Continent. Still at least no British truckers need worry. The Poles have taken over all our traffic to and from the Continent.

The EU can't fix their currency or sort their banks out but they can sure as hell make life difficult for taxpaying citizens ...

Why not fine them £100 simply for being French.

Not sure on this - but suspect that vistors to France from UK is greater than visitors from France to us. It's a guess, but if I'm right we're screwed again

and to be honest if they're going to bring food I'd rather they bring copious amounts of French wine, some of their better cheese, baguettes and dare I say it....fois gras

Mature English Cheddar beats any French gooey muck they can produce.
