but you didn’t notice they left, or worse you dunno who they are, what’s correct protocol for those threads, avoid and say nothing, say yah you’re back, we missed you or just say sorry I have no idea who you are and I will hold out to see what your banter is like on the forums before we have a thing going on ?!

It's the done thing to welcome them back and offer then a damn good rogering as a gift. If they turn you down then you are well within your rights to start a thread about how you're sick of time wasters or something similar
