I love a western and am about to start watching John Wayne in 'The Searchers'. What is your favourite Western?

Not a huge fan but does Blazing Saddles count or is that more of a spoof?

Deep in the New Forest

Butch Cassidy and the sundance kid god only knows how many times I watched that film as kid.

Could never take to the Clint Eastwood films.

As for TV series Deadwood was OK as was the film that came out afterwards. But I have watched Hell on Wheels start to finish 4 times now.

The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance

The Big Country

High Noon

The Fastest Gun Alive

Rachel and the Stranger

They don't make many TV westerns anymore, but I like two old ones because they were intelligent and thoughtful: The Virginian and The High Chaparral.

I enjoyed Deadwood (but haven't seen the film) but couldn't get into Hell on Wheels.
