Hey, the downward slope is way too easy but hang in there..things will come right..it may take time but its looking at what you have now and enjoying those things..whether it is family, friends...life is pretty crap but it could be far worse. Look at the positives in your life. Put on some music, far better than tv, dont let silence and boredom bite. Talk to someone, suprise someone but equally dont hide it away..let it out..tears and friends make great cleansers...take it from me..I do know. Find a focus and lock into it.chin up eh and don t hide. Take care...rememver Bob Hoskins " its good to talk". |

"Please speak to someone. The Samaritans, your doctor, a friend.
Life doesn't have to be this way."
You can find other helplines/listening services on the MIND website.
CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) also runs a helpline.
Sounds like you really need to contact a GP and tell them how you are feeling. |

"Citalopram Don’t overwork and make it easy on yourself."
Citalopram is one of the first line antidepressants offered, but if one is offered meds it'll be up to the doctor which and why.
There's no shame in needing medication - I've been taking an antidepressant most of my life, happens - but recommending specific prescription medication is counterproductive. |

Yes I meant to go and see a doctor and see what they say not to circumvent and self med from the internet. Sorry if that wasn’t clear. |

Agree there's no shame in taking medication. I'm still taking antidepressants, and have been for a long time, and they just stop my moods spiral downwards.
If you feel you can't control your mood and it just keeps getting lower and lower you need to speak to a GP. |

MIND has a list of all of the meds that are currently in use. They date from the 1980s and 1990s. Not exactly cutting edge.
You need to find out what works and what doesn't. A hard slog? Yes.
If you can live with a particular pill's side effects, then OK. If not move on, after a couple of months as they tend to hang around as you keep on the meds.
Sertraline 2 years and Citalopram 3 months+ gave me ED, IBS and stopped me from GRRRR moments and laughing...cling filmed emotions is a good description. My sleep did improve and stability is always a good thing. So I went cold turkey this year as ED & IBS is no fun. TF for Viagra and my Fab weekend wifey!
You need to do what what ever makes you happy. It's your right.
Covid's not helping, so if you can find a support network: take it. |

"I slip further and further into depression.......whats the point of everyting....... "
Hey xx
.so a fellow "dweller" here, although mine is PTSD.
Come drop in my inbox, it's a funky place with all sorts of crap to discuss! Usually what is best in a sandwich filling or the perfect mix of washing liquid to conditioner!
It's random but it's safe and secure! It's also friendly and non judgemental! It's kinda a secure homely place where you can let off steam and put the world to rights!
Ok so I may not like dick pics but it's a safe haven!!
And it has the best jokes around... Well, I think so!
Huge snugs to everyone xxx |

Know the feeling brother, just try to keep your chin up (easier said than done). Life does get better, and worse again, but it must go on with the hope contentment is around the corner. |

Just to tack on, if you don’t like speaking into he phone you can txt SHOUT to 85258 and they will speak to you via txt only, it’s helped me a few times when I've needed to speak to someone but don’t have the privacy needed (ie unhelpful friends or family) |

I have fought with depression for a few years. I slip in and out and it can take hold. I have been at the bottom. Tried to check out. I have been in therapy And been in great places since. There’s no one thing that triggers a slide. It’s important to talk. However you do that and to whom ever. I have. Found solace in the most unlikely people and found the ones I needed distant and out of reach. I lost my job in March and have been struggling to find regular work. I have my coping mechanisms Learned through therapy. but talking and listening are the best ones. By far. Pm me if you like. I can listen. Depression is the most underestimated killer we have. Stay strong. |

get yourself a punch bag.
hang it up and start belting it.
you'll be very surprised how this develops a strong will and determination which can hep break a depressing cycle.
it focuses the mind elsewhere
good luck |

I feel you pain and I'm sure I speak for everyone here, your not alone. You can always direct message.
As people have said there are people there that can help.
I've thought with depression on two serve occasions in the past, I'm always aware that it's so easy to fall back. Both times I'm didn't even realise until it was too late.
Just do things that make you happy, fine things that help and find others that you can talk to and that will help you in person too. I'm sure they are they if you ask |

This seems a cry for help, Madame Jennifer. First stop should be your GP to see if there's something physical wrong. Medication may help a bit and for a while, but from your profile and your post, I suspect you have a deeper self-esteem problem that you need to address. Good luck. |
