I was listening to the radio this morning and a guy had written in to say he was doing a sponsored wing walk for charity
My immediate reaction was 'no chance'
I like my feet on the ground, I am risk averse and consider pretty much everything I do
So, how bout you?
Do you thrive on taking risks?
Do you get a thrill by doing risky things? |

Risk ?
I like doing things perceived as dangerous as safely as I can
I'd have no issues with a wing walk done correctly I cant see much danger
I kite surf climb winter climb mtb off piste ski
Yet I suggest walking down the street with headphone on is equally if not more dangerous when complacent or unaware
My point is
Dangerous things done with equipment training and mittigataton can actually be much safer than daily tasks we frivelously undertake with a false sense of safety
I hope I'm a calculated risk taker |

Hillsex, soon yeah?
You owe me coffee!
Your negotiation tactics are rubbish! . Hillsex/coffee...."
Surely it's win/win for all involved providing you enjoy sex and coffee? |

In a ball gown because that's how we roll in N. Devon |
I'm not a risk taker as such. Physically I'm too aware of the limitations my body puts on me because I've been at the brink of going blind, going deaf and being paralysed at various points and as a result I'm very aware of how fragile it can be.
Emotionally I've taken risks in the past and I know the limits of my strength there as well, they're a lot tighter than they ever used to be now too.

This. Rock/winter climber and mtb here too. I enjoy doing things where making a mistake can have serious consequences, it is a very good way of forcing total mindfulness - is that risk taking? Yes. Do I get a thrill from it? Absolutely. Its it any more dangerous than many daily activities? Statistically often not - though tbf I've often driven significant distances with no recollection of how, I've never got up a climb without total concentration so these comparisons are perhaps unfair. |

"Yes, occasionally....
You come across as a fly by the seat of your pants kinda guy nippy! "
Hahahaha, I think the forums can caricature ppl for what we want to see based in a brief snapshot or insight into who they really are. I'm a single parent, with a very stable and secure home and work life. I've worked really hard to achieve this and I'm fiercely protective of it, so no risks there at all - it's all planned and calculated with a very high threshold to access for new people.
I'll take risks with less consequence and more thrill perhaps, I make the most of each day and every opportunity. I enjoy life and people as much as I can and stay open to new possibilities and learning..... |

If it involves height or enclosed spaces, I'm out
A few years back, a friend of mine offered to take my up in his open cockpit bi-plane
No chance
He promised he wouldn't do any aerobatics
My response was 'you can say what you want to me down here, up there I get no say in the matter'
I'm OK with a airliner to get me on my holidays
Not so with a 70 year old bi plane
Calculated risk too far for me - or I'm just a scaredycat |

If it’s a risk for me alone, then yes I’ll happily jump and try new things.
If it’s a risk that involves others then no, I’m too conscious of other people’s comfort and safety. |

I don’t do dangerous risks.
I tend to be accident prone so that would just be like me signing my own death warrant.
I tend to do risky things like bidding on a pendant on EBay that happens to be more than I have in the bank, then seeing sense and then praying that someone else outbids me. |

"Not anymore.
I used to take massive risks all the time.
Now I'm just too scared of dying or becoming uncomfortable "
See, I can get that
I'm way more of a shitbag now than I ever was in my 20's or 30's |

"A safe risk which is almost no risk of hurt, I want to put my family first.
So I stick to rollercoasters in theme parks "
Oddly Iv always avoided roller coasters
I like to have the sensory feed back and ability to control my direction and the personal responsibility to keep myself safe |

I'm a thrill seeker, always have been. The ways in which I seek my pleasure or adrenalin has changed over the years but it's still definitely part of my make up.
I couldn't bear a life without such thrills. |
