This idea was mooted already, about 10 years ago, but the costs were astronomical and the idea was shelved.

I have just seen the round they are proposing and it is actually sensible in the sence of that it wouldn't really get in the way of most traffic.........

I love the idea... they are talking about doing the same sort of this for new york.....

and if Eccleston is prepared to put in 35 mil of his own money to fund it.. why not.....

I doubt Ecclestone would ever use his own money - he gets the cities involved to stump up the money in order to be 'worthy' hosts.

It's a totally nuts idea and so typical of Eccleston. he threatens to take away the F1 from Silverstone, who then invest millions in getting a track/facilities deemed worthy of it by Ecclestone and no sooner is that done then he's talking of moving it to London which simply won't have the same spectator viewing facilities.

Next someone will be saying Rangers might want to buy Bury so they can play in theEnglish League from Glasgow as a way of saving their club after having broken the rules for years...oh hang on they already have mentioned that too

The super prix didn't really work in Birmingham in the 80s. Can't seeing the F1 circus coming to town and disrupting the city of London for all that time ... nightmare. Not only that - the noise pollution for millions of people would be awful

Will all F1 drivers have to learn The Knowledge then?

I know the streets of London (love that song) and I really can't see how a Grand Prix can be staged there when there is an army of Nigerian traffic wardens who simply won't understand that it's a special event and a broken down F1 car will still get a fookin ticket!

The race idea is for the Olympic park.

The plans were actually submitted as future uses for the Olympic park, without official backing from f1. As it was just an idea that had to developed and approved with the fia and fom.

It would be a nice idea, I would love it to happen but it's worth remembering that this information came from ecclestone himself on the same day the German banker he was alleged to have bribed was imprisoned for 8 years. Could be diversion tactics.

The track goes down the mall, nowhere near the Olympic park

"The track goes down the mall, nowhere near the Olympic park"

In that case that lends more weight to my argument that it's to divert attention from the bribery trial.

This is the planning application that's been made. As ecclestone is talking about something totally different I think it's just talk to keep other things out of the news.

Having been a multidrop driver in Central London in a past life I'm am speaking from experience.

I had one twat follow me to three stops within 200 yards of each other and ticket my wagon each time. It wasn't until he was about to write the third ticket that he spoke in his pigeon English and said I had to move it or get another ticket. I told him to ticket it then as the client paid for parking tickets, and then I told him to fuck off.
