Worthing

Bonzo passed away 40 years ago today. Led Zeppelin split after losing their brilliant drummer.

Aye, One quarter of the worlds most famous rock band gone for the sake of bloody alcohol. Oh to be able to go back and take the bottles away from him that night. It would have ended in a fight but hopefully saved the life of a husband and a father as well as the worlds greatest drummer.

Unfortunately, that woupd probably have just delayed the inevitable until the day after or the day after that....

I live in Bonzo's home town and there was a statue unveiled last year in the town centre to commemorate his 70th birthday.

I wonder if Harry Styles will get the same treatment when the time comes?

How about that. He came into the pub I worked in about three years before. He was with Denny Laine who was a regular. Both pissed, he put a few pounds in the juke box just before the last order bell. Juke box was then switched off, he announced to the pub “ I’m the drummer in the biggest band in the whole fucking world and you won’t play the records, come on Denny”. With that he put Denny over his shoulder and they stormed out.

Worthing

Considering he had a relatively small drum kit, he had an incredible sound, live and in studio.

I think he tended to play one up two down on a 24 in bass drum. He did once have a go on a double bass drum kit ( like Ginger Rogers) but it was like rolling thunder lol

Missin’ Yo’ Kissin’

John Bonham was an awesome powerful drummer.

They tried his son Jason in the band but just felt the magic wasn't there....

Cos op raised this - nice one by the way!Thought I would put Heart doing "Stairway To Heaven" as a link.

Excellent cover. Percy Plant, J.P.J and Jimmy Page are in attendance at the Kennedy Center.

Not a dry eye from Percy and J.B's son gets an acknowledgement from him!!! Super, always going back to this version.... Anne & Nancy were amazing.

ENJOY!

Blimey, I knew Ginger Rogers could dance, but I had no idea she was a drummer as well. I wonder if that's where Ginger Baker got his name from?
