Recently, with great difficulty due to surgery, but during lockdown it was pushing 5 or 10k by wheelchair (did 13k one day by accident), that includes off road terrain which required hellish strength to push over. Builds the shoulders up! Also resistance band work, bought a basketball post for the garden and practised in my sports chair. Once outdoor PT could resume, did various wheelchair drills, sprints, up hills, basketball drills etc and had just started back at socially distant wheelchair basketball training and the gym before my surgery. Now I'm OK to do light exercise again, indoor team sport is banned and we're not sure if our socially distanced, individual drills will be allowed. Probably not. I'm not allowed to do the long distances or push up hills or use gym equipment till Dec/Jan |

Was hard going for the last 2km home, which was a gradual but long uphill. The no-dropped kerbs were a bastard because my ability to pop up them dimished with every push
I picked up an ice cream at about the 7th km and whizzed down a hill, eating the ice cream with one hand and trying not to crash with the other. Not so hellish really
Harder were the offroad adventures over gravel, farm tracks, including mud etc. I found a route that was about 9km and asked for directions from a farmer the first time I tried it. He told me there was absolutely no way I'd make it up the lane to the main road etc. He passed me in his Land Rover when I was about half way there and I genuinely think he was just checking I'd not fallen in a ditch. He was very impressed I'd got that far but obviously I got back to the road and home. Then I did the same route three more times! I did get briefly stuck in the mud, I got stuck in a gateway and fell out my chair down a different country lane, but it's all good fun! |

I'm back in the gym. Bodyweight exercises just aren't the same. My gym is doing a great job with ventilation, cleaning, and distancing. (And I'm working out in a mask, which sucks about as much as you imagine. I got one designed for working out) |

I walk by my exercise bike on the way to the fridge and tell myself that I'll start tomorrow. If I'm feeling energetic I'll sprint to the fridge instead and then run up the stairs. |

"Many people have been home a lot more than usual lately for obvious reasons. If you're in that boat, how have you been keeping fit?"
I run, walk and go paddleboarding. I love being outdoors and can't exercise in the house unless its dancing.
