what are your ideas? Just watching footie with one eye, looking at the stamina of the players, their physique etc.
What is your preferred way to get fit?
What part of fitness is important to you, eg stamina, flexibility, cardiovascular or strength? |

What's all this nonsense about keeping fit anyway?
I've yet to learn how to get fit to start with.
Firstly. spend less time sitting down, posting on the Forum pages!
Yes Dad."
Son, how many times have I told you not to mention me on here?
You're grounded! |

"Seriously, walking to and from work each night (no public transport in this area), at 1.5 miles each way, five nights a week, means I have lost 2.5 stones in the past 7 months."
Awesome, sounds like you have naturally achieved greater fitness without having to follow a particular plan? |

I even got a physical check up at my GP's just in case there was any other underlying reason, but No, he put it down to my walking to/from work, a structured eating schedule and sleeping better.
Which reminds me, I have to get off here. Time to get ready and go to work. |

Yep, mostly walking to work for me and it does the trick. I put on weight in the holidays cos I am walking less.
Also have a step machine which is excellent for keeping fit if you do just ten mins a day. Tones yer tum and legs and lifts yer butt. My discipline in this is not so hot though, tends to be spasmodic. My son used it everyday for two weeks when he was here o hols and toned up his hanging gut very nicely. |

Folks, always remember rule number 1 of Zombieland - Cardio!
I keep in shape as best I can, cycle about 200m a week - mainly to work with a training ride on a day off.
I can run 5 miles in 40 mins happily and swim when I can - I'm reasonably healthy and want to stay that way - I can't bear the thought of hitting 50 or 60 years old and growing weak and pathetic.
Live long and live well! |

And prosper
Good approach I think |

And let's be real, walking, light exercise and things like zumba - doesn't do it.
You have to go for it every time either flat out for power and strength or pace your work rate in terms of watts and distance / calories you are burning up which makes diet so important !!! |

Interesting - I personally love the gym and a combination of different activities from lunges and lifting to cardio to stretching and yoga. I try to vary what I do, sometimes I do it outdoors, I join some but not many classes. Must say I really enjoy the atmosphere of an intense workout place.

Blimey good for you! I walk 8 miles to and from work coupled with 4 years working in a pub lost me a stone in the last year. If only the weight had gone off my stomach |

Can understand that if you doing it alone. Would it be better if you invited a friend along so you could chat in between? Motivate each other ? |

Have you tried zumba???? It isn't light exercise! I (Anne) have lost nearly 4 stone in just under 2 years doing zumba. |

"When I wake each day, I lift the left one and hold for 20 seconds, then release it.
Then I repeat the same with the other eyelid!
My eyes are fine! "
I can only wink with one eye....this severely limits my exercise regime |

im on a bit of a fitness regime at the moment, ive put a bit of weight back on over the past couple of years so decided its time to get off my arse again and loose it lol
I re joined slimming world about 3 month ago now so to go along with that i uped my movement
I go to the gym 5 times a week, i do have a personal trainer that i see twice a month so he can go tho the work out he did me and see what needs to be changed etc as my weight goes down and my needs to get where i want to be changed, so i follow his plan which takes about 90 mins 5 times a week but i also bike everywhere, i go to work on it, to the gym on it, go shopping on it, anywhere i need to go i go on my bike if possible and i spend between 1 and 2 ish hours a day on it, depending if im working as i obviously use it more when im going to work and back, plus i take the dog out twice a day for about half hour in the morning and a hour in the evening
I mainly did it to loose weight so i look better, ive lost 2 stone 9 pound so far and i can feel a difference in my fitness already, i dont get out of breath so easy now and ive also found when i go to the gym my recovery time is much quicker than when i first started, which makes you feel good the less out of breath you get
I also think being fitter gives you more confidance as with fitness comes looking better (obviously not everyone will agree with that)
But over all im happy i got back on it its benifited me in several ways |

Seriously though, I did work up a hell of a sweat earlier with 3 guys, and my sciatica and arthritis means walking is a struggle, but my consultant has listed me today for steroid/anaesthetic injection again so I'll hopefully be able to get back out walking for more than a few minutes....when the injection wears off, he's gonna do me a hip replacement so fingers crossed that's gonna mean I'll be able to rebook my Cambodian trek to Angkor Wat that I had to bloody well cancel cos of the arthritis |
