The Home Office advice is to not travel to Sudan. I'm pretty sure if a British national had gone missing there we'd know about it |

Sorry to hear about your worries. I worked for many years in the Oil and Gas business including in various parts of the African Continent. Do you know exactly who he was working for?
Give me a mail if you need any help.

I would say reading this you might be better getting someone to contact the Home Office on your behalf to save any confusion and ensure they take the request seriously. |

really hope this has a positive outcome for you. Had a similar situation and the not knowing anything and feeling helpless is the worst part. |

It's the Foreign Office you need to contact and not the Home Office, and they won't be asking you to fly out to see a body if it's the Sudan....it's on the Foreign Office 'Do not venture' list. |

After reading this thread I really would suggest getting someone to contact them on your behalf as its confusing to follow your points and may be better expressed by someone who articulates themselves well and can get the Home office to take things seriously. It would save frustration and heartache all round. |

North of The Wall - youll need your vest |
Any company or agency working in Sudan would have detailed plans about staff safety, so if he is missing they would already be dealing with the relevant authorities Im sure.
If he has a niece and a sister they would be the ones contacted by the Foreign Office - I very much doubt they would share information with friends when there are family members available |

Contact the Foreign and commonwealth office in London and explain things to them - they nay only speak to the family but it is worth a try |

The Home Office won't be talking to you about a British National missing abroad....it's not a Home Office matter, it's the brief of the Foreign Office.
And they will only speak to a close family relative or the representative of an employer.
Plus you won't get a visa to travel to Sudan unless you are working for a recognised agency.
The country is in a state of civil war. |

You have lost me there and to be honest if you message the home office like that they won't take you seriously. If you want them to take you seriously then I suggest getting someone to contact them for you who can talk to them clearly without confusing them. |

I am not on about diveing? I was referring to the SAS remark as not being true. If he told you this in relation to Sudan then it wasn't true. Sorry but the whole thread is confusing and maybe you should be talking to a solicitor if you can afford and feel strongly about it rather than posting on a swingers forum. |

If he told you about the SAS knowing he was in Sudan then that's not true as its not their area. Something is just not right with this whole tail. |

Sorry but this has to be a joke for a start no planes go to Sudan and it is a restricted access country. All this tales of the SAS gave it away. Have you thought this man may just be wanting to disappear and avoid as a female half of a couple persuing a single male is not what many single men would expect here. Hang on you were saying above you was going to get a plane out there! I was addressing the fact you can't because its a war zone, you are avoiding the fact the SAS knowing he was there is plainly not true, I will be totally honest and say you really can't expect people to take this seriously and without being too rude does look a little stalkerish for a married woman to think she can do more than this guys sister. I would leave it to family as its far more appropriate. Sorry if its a little harsh but you need to take a step back as its more than a little obsessive to do all this on an open forum. |

Ex military personnel who undertake rig or pipe line security work do so via recognised international security companies.
They don't just turn up in The Sudan with a rucksack and a reference from the British Army looking for employment.
The security company involved will arrange the Visas of their staff, will register them with the Foreign Office under the 'Locate Registration Scheme' and will be in direct contact with the Foreign Office if an incident occurs.
They will have insurance for the repatriation of dead personnel, they won't need a woman who once had sex with him to fly out to identify his body as they will in all likelyhood have his DNA on a database.
In short it all sounds ridiculous.

If you are not able to discuss this lover with your husband then find someone close you can sit down and discuss it with as I really don't think this is the place." i can do what i like .. my husband meet him week befor he come to my home to meet my kids ..... i was there in hotel night he left . We are close yes like family x |

"i am now chating to his siter on face book and tomorrow home office ........ and if nothing i am in my car and on a plane ,
Sorry but this has to be a joke for a start no planes go to Sudan and it is a restricted access country. All this tales of the SAS gave it away. Have you thought this man may just be wanting to disappear and avoid as a female half of a couple persuing a single male is not what many single men would expect here. I hope its all drink talking and with luck you will sleep well without too much of a hangover. he never got a plane there ,, god no calls nothing its a war zone . wi fi everything is out , i chated to him in may and now thay say missing a month just a body . his sister i hope will help me and if not i will sort it some how as need closer on this.
Yes you can do what you like but frankly any sympathy from me has run out as after going through all this it comes across as pure "once upon a time" I keep expecting to read about fairies, dwarves and elves but frankly it has become even more unbelievable than that now and looks like a alcohol fired cry for help. You ignore advice and will do as you wish so I will leave you to add your flying dragon and horde of gold to this tail as I I have ceased believing there is any credibility left in it. |

Just been reading through this Thread and I find some of the people who have added to this really need to take a step back and find somewhere else to play the conspiracy theories and accuse people of 'fairy tales' etc. And the lady that made the suggestion Jo would be asking for donations from Fabbers should be ashamed and apologise. I know it was retracted but hey ..too late! It should never have been written in the first place.
I have had the pleasure of knowing Jo for a number of years and its a priviledge to have her call me her friend. So I know 3 very simple things about Jo:
Firstly she is dyslexic (and she has said this in public) and finds it really hard to write things as maybe we would but she keeps on trying to beat it. So maybe give the lady a break in her use of language especially as she is very upset.
Secondly she is the most generous and kind hearted person anyone could know and I fully understand if someone she holds dear is in trouble, let alone possibly dead, she will move heaven and earth to sort it out even if she doesn't understand the difficulties involved.
Finally she doesn't need assistance fianancially so the little digs and smears are totally unfounded.
Seems to me if you can't be helpful and courteous, especially in a Thread like this, then maybe better to just keep the f**k out of it |

There is no need for that, even if you don't like the answers given.

Hopefully there is a positive end to this your friend is ok, safe and sound. Regardless of where he is. It may be better wating further information from his family. |

Jo
I think I remember the man in question
Wasn't he involved in some sort of heated dispute in the forum just prior to his departure ?
I know you are a kind hearted soul and from this and other postings, it is obvious that you have a depth of feeling for the guy.
Just be careful. There are some cruel people out there. There are some vengeful people out there.
I do hope that is does turn out to be a sick 'joke' because as horrible as that sounds, it would be the better outcome than if it is true.
I hope you get some closure and soon x |

you were obviously very upset last night and you seem a bit calmer now.
I still haven't found the information who has sent that email to you? Someone you know?
And I thought you spoke to his sister on facebook? Must be frustrating to try and get to the bottom of things with your hands so tight as you're not a relative. |

im finding the whole scenario somewhat bewildering......anyone that is that close would surely be known to the family and be able to be contactable in an emergency??? without the need of msn messages from a friend of a friend who says his sister is on facebook???
i hope there is a positive outcome in this story as so far its coming across as being rather difficult to believe |
