Has anyone ever sanded spindles on a stair case. I'm doing mine there is 128 spindles to do this is gonna take ages. Then to prime and gloss them. Oh the Joy's of DIY |

"Top tip for sanding the staircase: get someone else to do it" I was quoted £500 plus vat just to sand them down call me tight fisted butnid rather severe money |

Yes, have approx 100 also.
And its cut string, with 5 swan necks and scroll handrail at the bottom. All lacquered.
I enjoy it though so I guess this review is pointless. |

It will take ages but it’s either therapeutic or will crack you, I took moulds of a while house - of balustrading, columns, caps, facia, pilasters all that intricate stuff spayed and sanded to 1200 , man it was like hell on earth for 3 months |

Haha.... you’ll need to go back over them and get right into the detail or it will look like a manky rice pudding when you paint it. Use heat and wire wool on a drill |

I recommend Satin Wood for paint rather than gloss. It dries quicker and lasts longer. Also does not show up wood imperfections as much as gloss. I would add use 'trade' paint for the wood. It's expensive but gives a better coverage. |
