A friend has really let their beard grow for the first time in the last 6 months and now it is really long and quite wild.
They have talked about getting a specialist cut, to keep the beard but have it looking it's very best. Is there a specific type barber that does this kind of thing, I was hoping to get them a voucher for a present.
Any advice is welcomed as I've never had a beard and I have no idea where to start. |

My ex used to go to a turkish barber as a pamper bit he would get his head cut throat razored as well. I would suggest looking for local barbers and see reviews etc. A lot of areas have indy type batbers now for this specific reason |

Check online for a local barber, most of them have some form of social media account and display their work, so you can pick and choose. Also as someone mentioned below, beard products work well for maintenance. Hope this helps.

There are loads of youtube videos on how to style a beard. I think he may want to get an idea of what he wants first. Certain styles require cutting and trimming in a certain way over several months.
If he has an idea of what he wants he can then take it to a barber. Yep I agree Turkish or South Asian barbers are used to doing beards and styling them. |

Turkish seem to really specialise in sharp lines and take quite a lot off the neck and cheek line to get this affect which to me looks quite unusual and fake.
Kurdish barbers are my go to they seem to all keep a lot of the weight of the beard and keep it looking manly while taming a lot of it.
If you go to an English barber who does beards he usually won't take much off and it won't look drastically different.
This is all personal opinion though. I've had a beard about 7 years and this always seems to be the case for me. |
