"Not a great fan but do like hero’s in German.
T"
Have to agree, I have a varied taste but he doesn't do it for me except the track 'Fashion'.
But my fave is Heroes done by Peter Gabriel. The poignancy of that version hits hard on the last few minutes of the Sole Survivor movie. |

"Life on Mars" is possibly the most perfect pop song ever, and most likely my favourite Bowie song. But I'll tip my hat to pretty much anything from the Tony Visconti era. |

I'm a fan, though I admit I'm not familiar with all his work, especially his later stuff. Off the top of my head some of my favourites would be...
Let's Dance, Young Americans, Golden Years, The Prettiest Star, Starman, The Jean Genie...the whole of Hunky Dory is brilliant. Lots of great songs. I could list many more. |

Love so much Bowie stuff . As a young kid I would listen to Albums ( vinyl ) and sing along to the lyrics which were always printed on the inner sleeve .. the 4 albums I grow up with were
Space oddity
Hunky Dory
Aladin sane
Rise and fall of ziggy stardust ..
I love then all and it’s surprising how many of the lyrics I can still remember of by heart ..
So to pick one track of each album from the above .
Letter to Hermonie / Space Oddity
Panic in Detroit / Aladin Sane ( although that could have been Drive in Saturday quite easily )
Bewley Brothers / Hunky Dory
Moonage Daydream / The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust ...
Only because I had to choose |

I'll cheat and choose 3 although they are essentially 1 suite of songs:
Sweet Thing
Candidate
Sweet Thing (Reprise)
All from Diamond Dogs
Huge Bowie fan since childhood but only saw him live once and unfortunately, probably the worst live act I've ever seen! |

The man was so far ahead of stuff and I got in right at the beginning..love some of his early stuff like, width of a circle, all the madmen, kooks.
But I will nominate,John I'm only dancing a 'gay' song which touched on bisexuality before it was accepted..i think it was the follow up to Starman although not included on the magnificent the rise and fall of ziggy stardust. |

I love Bowie!
Drive In Saturday I think.
But on the day his death was announced, I was flicking through stations and came across Modern Love. Never been a particular favourite of mine, but when that came on I realised how glad I was to live in a world that he lived in too and danced like a loony toon round my flat. Since that day it's been another favourite. |

Cat People (Putting Out Fire)
In fact any track off "Lets Dance"....
A really underrated album in my opinion. Cool, with taste, artistic, slick piece of work. Very commercial & catchy - nothing wrong with that. Nile Rodgers producing it also - amazing. |

Bowie was one of those artists that "pushed the boundaries" but that generally involves producing lots of crap. There was an awful lot of incredible songs too though.
Life on Mars, Space Oddity, Heroes, China Girl, Changes, Golden Years, Jean Genie... all genius.
I think my favourite is probably Absolute Beginners

David Bowie was a very special artists creating very special songs. Some of them are so good that they survive a totally new interpretation, e.g. I like "Heroes" performed by Motörhead. (look it up on YT and weep for two great talents lost) |

Every artist will have an off day and produce work that is poor, but the mark of a genius is to produce one great work. David Bowie produced not one but many gandreat works. His songs are not just sung but written on one's soul.
Although "Sorrow" many not have been written by Bowie, it is still to me his song.
I think "Young Americans" single is one of the most perfect songs written. Not quite soul it is a rollercoaster ride of musical devices in one song. The "Young Americans" album has some of my favourite solo artists on it. Leaving out Johh Lennon (whoever he may be) there is David Sanborm on the sax, Ralph MacDonald on percussion, and the genius soul singer Luther Vandross.
Although I don't have favourites I can never tire of "Golden Years", "Fashion" and "Ashes to Ashes".
Not everyone knows this but there is a theory that Bowie caused the global financual crash in the early 2000's by being one of the first people to create a financial instrument out of his royalties. This type of financial product became very popular and was the theory underlying the packaging of mortgages that lead to the crash.
What Is a Bowie Bond
A Bowie bond was a unique type of asset-backed security which used as collateral the royalty streams from current (at the time) and future album sales and live performances by musician David Bowie. |

-Space oddity
You sir are a fool!
Bit harsh "
On reflection yes lol. But comparing the sainted David with those bore merchants, my god. |

Me too, it's the "frock coat and bibbety bobbety hat" line that gets me as well as that killer riff |
