HELP!
I have an awful toothache and am running out of decent pain relief.
Anyone know anything good I can get over the counter? It's REALLY bad.
Please don't tell me to go to the doctors/dentist...

Sorry but you need a dentist.
In the mean time - clove oil put on a cotton bud directly on the tooth/ gum really helps - be careful though it burns - dip the tip of the cotton bud in the oil only.
And ibuprofen then paracetamol 2 hours after.
Why won't you see a dentist?

I have a really severe phobia. I will only see a dentist who will empathise and it's impossible to get an appointment atm without it costing a fortune, which I don't have.
I'm planning to see a dentist whilst I'm in Turkey over the winter...the pain is only bad for a few days here and there so I'd rather just deal with it til then if I can |

Sounds odd but put something frizen against the jaw line where the pain is. My dentist told me to do that while i was waiting for an op to have my wisdom tooth removed. It really helped the pain as it numbs it. Also helps kill off infections.
Next - see a dentist! |

Tooth ache is the worst.
Oral gel,Eugenol or clove oil applied to the tooth.
Chased with Cocodamol (but not too much)
The only real cure is obviously the dentist but the above should give you some relief. |

Thank you all
Had lots of people in my inbox suggesting the oragel so I think I'll see if I can get my hands on some tomorrow.
For now it's the last of my naproxen, paracetamol, ibuprofen and amitriptyline to help me sleep

"Ive just had an abcess and ended up bursting it myself. Last bad tooth i had i yanked out myself"
I'm almost 100% sure it's nerve related rather than an abscess, I had a mild one before and it's a different sensation altogether.
Toothache in any form is rubbish innit |

I have a huge phobia about dentists and treatment but i saw a dentist as an emergency last friday. All the staff were great and calmed me down. It cost just over £22 for the appointment and that included a lot of treatment. Good luck. |

"Solpadeine max, you’ll have to go into the chemist to get it but it’s good stuff."

Or solpadeine plus is also very good, only thing that will touch my toothache when I get one.
Hope you can get something to help x |

Just ibuprofen and keep your head above your body if that makes sense (don't lay down and sleep propped up on pillows). I had an awful time once with a gel product with novacaine in a few years back, it made things hyper sensitive and much worse.... ....get to the dentist |

I use clove oil until I can get an appointment. Miniature bottles are cheap at the chemist. I pour a few drops on my finger and rub the clove oil on the gum where it hurts. Stops the pain throbbing within seconds but it only lasts a short time and then I reapply. If the tooth is sensitive to temperature I would avoid anything hot. A few years ago I had a really bad toothache and made an emergency appointment, but the denist refused to pull it because they could see nothing wrong with it. It turned out that my tooth was sore because the gum was inflamed by something I had ate or drank which caused the gum to recede and exposed the unprotected enamel line and made the tooth very sensitive to food, drink, and temperature. I think the weather also played a part because my teeth sometimes hurt when the weather suddenly turns really cold or hot. I think the rapid change in climate causes the tooth or gumline to expand or compress with the different climates which makes the teeth with fillings much more sensitive. The joys of dentistry. Why do they always hire beautiful girls to suck their patients? |

"I'll pull it out Saturday or numb it with Gin.
I find a good antibacterial mouthwash helps.
Could try Difflam? Antiseptic and numbing. "
Let's go with the Gin!
Can I not just use the Gin as a mouthwash? Alcohol numbs, right?

Probably!! Difflam is great for numbing a throat so I assume it works just as good on the mouth |

The ache and pain is more in my jaw/head, that's why I'd not bothered with clove oil yet.
The naproxen cocktail I'm taking is working but I'm almost out |

If it's a nerve tooth ache and you have a cavity opening to get to the nerve this mountain remedy will work. But only do this if you want to kill the nerve in the tooth.
Take a white sheet of writing paper, crumple it up tight, then undue it, lay it out flat on a non plastic dinner plate. Light it on fire and let it burn up the paper fully, blow ashes of plate, there will be a yellow residue left on the plate, take a very small ball of cotton or tissue to wipe the yellow residue off the plate, then put the residue in the cavity so it can get to the nerve and leave it there. This yellow residue will kill the nerve causing the pain. After it's killed the nerve, remove the ball of residue, rinse your mouth out thoroughly and often to prevent the risk of infection starting.
This old time remedy will work, I've seen it done and also done it myself.
Hope it helps you too. |

Careful taking naproxen and ibuprofen together... Both NSAIDS, make sure you have a PPI like Lansoprazole or Omeprazole atleast |

Is it a broken or cracked tooth? If so you can get oil of cloves or oralgel to help the pain.
If it an abscess, you need to see a dentist. Take ibuprofen and paracetamol for the pain, split them 2 hours apart and stick to the daily dosages. |

I think something nerve related...the pain comes and goes, it'll be bad for a few days and then barely noticeable for a while... and it's not localised to a particular tooth. |

Go to Boots and get ...
VEGANIN over the counter
It works.
If you need serious treatment, I know a good dentist in... Slovakia.
Transformational dental work at a quarter or third the price of the UK.
Just the technology there alone puts the UK's slimy drill-and-fill, yank-and-crank merchants in the shade... |
