No, not a swear word but an acronym.
It stands for: Collective Union of Numpties, Tossers, Shites.
These are the people that get in my way when I’m out cycling along a towpath or cycle route.
I politely ring the bell to advise of my approach, there’s then a variation of responses. Some panic, they stop and look around but still blocking the path. Some couples just swap places so still blocking. Others ignore me, now at this point I don’t know if they are just ignoring me or haven’t heard. People coming towards me that just make no effort to yield. Fuck knows where they think I will go? Those just in a world of their own that don’t give a thought or a shit about anyone else.
This is not a rant as the overwhelming majority of good people just move without a thought or breaking stride. Most appreciate that I have a bell.
It’s just a comment on a small but growing minority of people that really shouldn’t be allowed out in public. They are CUNTS! |

By cunts do you mean those cyclists that cycle through red lights, nip onto the path when it suits them, cycle side by side and block traffic and are just generally cunts?

And they need to move out of the way because??
If it’s a public footpath/ towpath they have as much right to go at the pace they are going.
I say this as a cyclist, triathlete and MTB rider.
Just slow down, ping your bell, stop and have a chat with them instead of berating people.

Op at least you have and use a bell, we often meet cyclists on the tow path and many don't..
Maybe cyclists like yourself and I speak as someone who used to commute by cycle in south London could let other cyclists know their own obligations too..
That might help both ways..
PS stay safe, some none cycling road users are proper fuckwits.. |

No need for that. I do all of the above as and when it suits me. I have my wits about me at all times and never (rarely) put myself or others in danger.
Of course though, as soon as I pull on my lycra I morph instantly into a supreme athlete / sex God.
I appreciate this look makes some motorists jealous. |

A pedestrian actually has more right of way on a tow path than a cyclist. |

Haha.
All I’m saying, cyclist or not. If you are on the road you need to follow the rules of the road. The footway is for pedestrians not bikes. |

But cyclists on towpaths don't have right of way past pedestrians. So why should ringing your bell mean they have to move over rather than the cyclist dismount and politely walk past them? |

"The word cunt is the first thing I think of for the poor red light hopping, traffic weaving, non insured cyclists. They are so entitled bless them ."
I was insured when I cycled quite a bit. My bike was worth more than a lot of people cars and it tended to be them that were closer to hitting me than the other way round. Filtering or traffic weaving as you call it, is legal and enjoyed by motorcyclists too.
I can’t stand cyclists who go through at red lights. |

Not all of us do this! And it's actually advised to cycle 2 abreast so when vehicles pass they treat them as a car it's in highway code x |

Not all... But they aren't motorised... So if someone is insured you drive differently around them? Treat them as the same, just slower, surely?! |

Love the word cunt,
I say it way to often,I find a lot of drivers are cunt's too,
Not indicating at junctions or on roundabouts, driving at 70mph in the third lane when the other two are fucking empty |

"I'm an occasional tow path user as a self propelling wheelchair user. No fucking chance that I can squish in against the wall or move anywhere. You'll have to wait for a passing place, pal "
And of course I would indeed do just that. A combination of my social considerate nature and cycling ability means that I avoid most issues. My point seems to be getting lost. As I said, the overwhelming majority of people are great and most appreciative the bell for what it is. It’s the small number that seem to lack any care or thought for others, no idea what S around them.
Peace and love to all. |

I understand, but ringing your bell in my ear isn't going to do anything, apart from frighten the ducks. Ring the bell or not, I can't move anywhere. So, if you can see someone like me in the distance, just prepare to slow down/stop and wait. No need to ring your ding-a-ling |

I feel the same as you. When Im driving and a group of cyclists are in the middle of the road. Wobbling all over the place . They are better on a cycle path. They think they own the road. |

I'm a cyclist and a driver, I don't know what side to take, you won't catch me ringing my bell because I'm not retired and you won't catch me jumping a red light as you'll be stuck behind the light and I'll be long gone |
